I have been to allot of school this was one of the WOST!!!! The teachers were mean I even got called a tadletill by one of them for telling on the school bully. As if having aspergers does not make me shy enouf. They would not help me with my disobillys they just held them agenst me. I could go on but I do not have time but I will say I endend up transfering to a better school! P.S Sorry for my bad spelling I am DYSLEXIC.

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers in December & luckily he was able to enroll at VGW in January. We have had such an amazing experience. My son is thriving academically, he has great group of new friends and above all he is happy and loves going to school. The teachers and administrators really understand him and helped him transition seamlessly. The curriculum is individualized o the student; great teacher to student ratio. I can't say enough great things about VGW.

My son attended VGW from grades 3 through 9. When he started, it was the only game in town for high functioning ASD children. While it wasn't a bad placement, I do feel the program is too large with over 300 students as of 2009, 3 different programs the academically advanced, diploma bound, and certificate of completeion student, and it doesn't spend enough time examining the individual needs of each child. My son was bullied by another student and the administration never remedied the problem; he was tested for reading comprehension in 8th grade and was at a 4th grade level (and had been at VGW since 3rd grade); when his 9th grade math teacher left on maternity leave 3 months before the end of school, 3 teachers replaced her for the last 3 months of the year/ There is a very high turnover of staff among administrators and staff.

Taking a child who is on the Autism Spectrum and growing the skills needed to fit in the world and be happy is extraordinarily challenging. Village Glen West simply excels and has done wonders with our son.

Before my son came to this school, he would not talk to his classmates and insisted that he did not want friends. He also struggled with the mindless lessons. Now he talks in class, has friends and is doing great academically.

Village Glen West has been an excellent placement for my son. The classes are very small, the teachers are very dedicated and have a very good understanding of the needs of the students. The social skills program, counseling, and speech therapy have also helped my son make enormous progress - far more than he would have in a public school.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
