Handles bullying effectively: Strongly agree

- a
I am only aware of one incident of bullying and that was handled expeditiously and effectively.

Effective school leaders: Strongly agree

- a
I'm very proud of our Head, Dan Vorenberg. He is constantly trying to improve all aspects of the Mirman community. His deeply held conviction that everyone should be constantly learning and constantly improving filters down to all levels.

Develops character: Strongly agree

- a
Not sure if the school does a great job of selecting children with great character or develops that great character, but most children at Mirman are kind, gentle, respectful, collaborative, and supportive with one another and to the outside world. Community service and great character are integral to the curriculum and the culture of Mirman.

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

- a
The teachers are outstanding! The music, theater, and athletic departments are particularly good. We also love the science and robotics programs. There are too many other great teachers to list them all. Of course, there are a couple that are not superstars, but by and large, the teachers are great.

Amount of homework: Agree

- a
My kids rarely have to stay up late to do homework and the work that they do is integral to their learning and not busy work.

- a
We have been here for 10 years and we absolutely love the warm, nurturing environment that our children have thrived in. Everyone loves the academic aspect of Mirman, but my favorite thing about Mirman are the great families that make up the Mirman community. We've become so close with many families, many of whom are now lifelong friends. Lastly, the stereotype of Mirman as a place full of awkward children is comically untrue. The vast majority of children are very socially adept, speak intelligently to their peers and grown ups, and are emotionally connected in every way.

Amount of homework: Neutral

- a
The only homework in K is reading.

Amount of homework: Agree

- a
The homework load is very manageable - there is no "busy work" and the kids do most of their big project work in school.

- a
This school was a lifesaver for my son who was not thriving at his previous school (considered a top private elementary school on the westside). At Mirman he fit in both socially and academically - the opportunity for him to be with his peers, to be celebrated for who he is, and not pressured to conform, was transformational. Now he is a confident and mature teen (at a private high school) who has retained his love of learning and is an involved member of his school community.

Handles bullying effectively: Agree

- a
I do not think that there is a lot of bullying so I am not familiar with how they handle it - but imagine it would be effective.
