I myself went to this school back in 2007-2008, it was amazing many wonderful teachers! but many have left already.. This school has turn HORRIBLE!! My sister (A average) was attending this school, but we had to take her out because the school cause my family the BIGGEST problem! I wont forgive this school! Police officers arent what you thing, trust me. Personal experience.

Its IPA score is still a number 2... Parents need to be involved A LOT more for this schools score to move up. Its super far from being a good school, parents first would need to be involved and parents in this community DO NOT like to be involved in there children's academic life. It has potential like all other school but that is all it has Potential.

JLMS is a wonderful school, and has the greatest kids in the world attending it. Ever since it opened 6 years ago, it has dramatically improved academically, thanks to the selfless dedication of its incredible staff. It is true that it went through a major restructuring a few years ago, but that was necessary due to budget cuts and its large number of inexperienced teachers. Today it is a model school at the forefront of educational reform.

If it wasn't for the Dean and the Campus Police this school would be a DISASTER! They need a Principal with strong leaderships skills. Someone who can implement a system that works. Someone who will take initiative and do some research to see how other schools get things done. I feel very bad for everyone who works under this leadership because they seem to be overworked. The Principle blames the problems on Socio economic issues. Gertz Ressler is down the street and it's one of the best schools in Los Angeles County.

I was sent to this school to provide 9 weekly drug prevention groups. This was a difficult place to work. My group room was not available on time because people overstayed their conference limit which cut into my group time. Instead I had to wait in the hallway with the children. There was always some sort of interruption / commotion going on. Staff at this site falsely accused me of leaving my group early. When it was found to be untrue, I was never given an apology. I had different kids in my group each session when I should have had the same students! I feel as if they just plucked kids out of any class and put them in as fillers. Also I had to deal with a staff member who was unreasonable, rude, and malicious. After this experience I had to truly re-evaluate my career field because I never wanted to have this experience again. Later I found out that at the time, this school was going to lose a very high percent of its staff, so this might explain the chaos, nevertheless, this place was a mess. As a professional, I would not return. Their leadership does not address concerns that need attention, instead they brush it off. I truly feel that some of their staff simply don't care.

2007-2008 this school was AMAZING! But in 2009 a DRAMATIC change in leadership occurred and unfortunately the new principal is PSYCHOTIC! Unfortunately this means that many of the amazing teachers and administrators have moved on and chaos has ensued.

Does not seem to be very effective or successful, but sadly in line with schools of this demographic in this state.

Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
