I agree with the parents that have given this school 1star. It cares more about numbers and scores then a violent safe environment. No substitutes are provided nor a nurse has being hired. Talking to their administration about concerns or complaints is like talking to a wall. They fail on the students safety and communication! 5yrs and not much has changed since they opened.

My son and daughter both attend Celerity and absolutely love the school and their teachers. Yes there is a lot of homework but my children don't know anything else so to them it's normal. As far as arts and sports, we supplement those ourselves after school and on the weekends.

My children go to Celerity Troika Charter School, Highland Park campus. They have been there since Kindergarten and they are currently in 2nd grade. The academics are challenging but achievable. They are extremely confident in their abilities to do the assignments. There is a lot of homework but it is a good way to learn helpful study habits. The teachers communicate consistently with parents to ensure a cohesive school/home partnership. The school offers a physical education program that consists of weekly yoga and dance classes. The children are given Project Based Learning assignments, which help them to become socially aware, from things like Environmentalism to equality, and helping the less fortunate. The principal and administrators are helpful and pleasant. My children love going to school and I love the fact that they are growing into confident, socially aware people who understand that with dedication and effort they can achieve anything, whether it be honor roll this trimester or a college degree in the future.

My son just started last August at Burbank campus so he is still in kindergarten. He has learned so much in about 7 months. He came home talking about how to take care of our earth -- save energy, water, recycling, etc. He talked about the importance of equality -- no one should be discriminated. The school is teaching students valuable concepts. I am very happy with our choice.

100%LOVE THIS SCHOOL I wish all schools in CA would be like this great school. We will never find a school like this one, the teachers are the best of the best qualified and respectful professionals. The teachers are dedicated in guiding students to focus onto college. They are good advisors and provide children exceptional knowledge . Yes homework is long but it builds good study habits if you are looking into sending children into the real world of college. Other schools will only provide basic learning and only if your child is gifted will receive high quality learning. Celerity Troika provides children with equal high quality learning to all its students. The school does not underestimate children's minds it challenges them to follow their goals and dreams. My child loves Troika and has never missed school in five years she has made it her second home thanks to the safe environment the school provides. I definitely recommend this school!

The motto of "Sharing the Responsibility for Educating Our Children...." is a complete fallacy. Celerity Troika assumes no responsibility for actually educating our children. The school environment is one that actually undermines education with a lot of pressure for students to perform--no matter what. This school needs to be reviewed and cited for it's unethical educational practices.

We were originally very excited about this school. It has proven extremely disappointing, and we have pulled our child out mid year. 11 to 16 pages of homework per night starting from kinder has many of the kids so stressed that they are on anti depressants. The Celerity Group's unwillingness to meet with concerned parents speaks volumes. All they care about is their scores so they can get funding. Don't let your kid fall prey to what on the outside looks like a great education - it's not. Just a lot of joyless drill it and kill it with little critical thinking and punishment if you aren't fast enough. We are now undoing the damage that this school has done to our child's confidence.

This school needs to care about children again. Where is the creativity? Where is the reason building? Students don't need to be trained on the correct answer by drilling. They need to be taught how to come to a conclusion. Administration has proven time and time again they don't care. Have special needs, forget it. ADA needs to step in. I'm pulling me children, like so many others have since the beginning of this year.

This school has high API scores because if your child does not succeed, they are strong armed out. Don't even think of sending your child here if they require any form of accommodations. There isn't any form of academic support here unless you are blessed with a bright child. Doesn't even deserve one star for this super selective school.

The school's API score continues on a downward trend. There is an especially noticeable low score average in Latino students. School administration have refused to meet with concerned parents. School lacks extra-curricular activities: clubs, arts programs, and overall youth development. Equally important the school is lacking in the ability to meet the requirements of students with special education needs. The school cannot test students in but they do test your student to see what grade level they should enter. Your student may be asked to repeat a grade. The school has a mandatory 11-pages a night homework policy. This may be stressful for young ones. The bathrooms require cleaning and repair. If a parent complains they are told they have a choice to leave. Admin is not open to suggestions for improvements. This school is purely academic and nothing else leaving students with no childhood but plenty of busy work on photocopied homework packets.

I'm still "iffy" about this school, the teachers seem super stressed because of all the pressurer they have, if the kids dont get certain grades and meet certain standards at the end of the school year then the teacher loser his/her job.. chaos!the HP campus is SUPER unorganized!! the only reason i havent pulled my child out is because of the good education shes getting but i think its only a matter of time before i am fed up with the chaos!

CELERITY EAGLE ROCK IS A GEM! BEST KEPT SECRET IN L.A. IN COOL HIPSTER EAGLE ROCK! This is a college prep K-8 Charter free public school tucked in North Eagle Rock. The test scores are in the 900 plus range, small class sizes, small school culture, uniforms, simple facility but stellar staff. Great Principal & amazing Kinder Teacher. My son adores his Teacher, loves learning, reading, writing, & is showing real promise in Math. Kinder teacher really cares for her student's & is very warm/firm/nurturing/approachable. She goes the extra mile! He loves Jiji Math software, great food, good after-school program (hw help/snack/play till 6pm), & close knit community. Feels like private school ed. without cost & fancy facilities. We are a professional, college educated couple & we were on the private school track but finding this gem in our neighborhood has been a blessing. We are getting a first rate education & it allows us to save for private High School & College. Celerity emphasizes computers & technology. Yoga & dance weekly. Communication is excellent at the school & always lots of enthusiasm. School culture feels safe, cozy, respectful, no bullying & a wonderful place to learn!

This is to the One Star Parent who posted on 5-6-2012.: While I agree the facilities are not ideal, the quality of the Celerity Troika teaching staff and their results with the kids cannot be argued with. Please use this amazing resource, Great Schools, to compare the API scores to other nearby LAUSD schools with similar populations of 95% food assistance eligible students. Then expand that search to include wealthier communities nearby. If you want glorious facilities, I hope you make enough money to live in South Pasadena or San Marino. You're not being reasonable in your expectations if you honestly believe the building itself matters more than the teaching, the curriculum, or the results. In fact, thanks to restrictive bond measures, the state is building beautiful schools that sit empty due to lack of funding. Consider using your time to demand better pay for teachers, and to stop cuts to education statewide, rather than bashing a model that clearly works, despite an ugly building to work in, please.

This school is extremely unorganized and unfit to be a school. The space of classrooms are small and the space for play is not there. There were limited resources for students to use while playing. First impression was that this school was not being properly managed. I can't help but think that the unorganized administration are the ones writing the reviews, because this school is not a great school. I feel sad for the children that have to attend this old church building as a school.

My son has been at Celerity Troika since the begining. The Principal, Ms. Mac was so hands on and you could tell how much she loved and cared for our kids. Until now. Ms. Mac is gone and its all about the enrollment and no longer about our kids. My son was sick and no adult from the school bothered to call us. He was ALONE in the office for HOURS with 104 temp! He was not the only one left like that either. My son is being bulled and racially harrassed. He told staff and so did we. The staff has done NOTHING to stop it! Pulling him out!

This is the greatest school in our district and the best thing about this amazing school anyone can go! My son has been there since they started and he has shown so much improvement that my husband and I are so excited that our son will be able to go to high school with no drama. The principle is so hands on with the students and she has so much respect from parents. This is the greatest school ever! I totally recommended to all.

My daughter's in her second year there (1st grade) and we've been really pleased. The teachers work hard to give the students the tools they need to succeed and move to the next level. Parent involvement is high (sometimes tough for working parents, but worth it). Students seem well supervised and I'm relieved my daughter can stay there through 8th grade. They just opened a second location for this school in Highland Park -- Celerity Troika Burbank. It's a totally new facility/building and would be great to hear what parents think of it.

This is a great school. I dont know where to start, the teachers, principal, after school tutors are all great! The students receive the attention they deserve and the curriculum is much more advanced. They offer yoga, dance and students have access to computers on a daily basis.Studens will reach new heights in this school for sure. I also hear they are openning an extension of this school in Highland Park. What a great opportunity for parents and their kids! Highly recommend it!

BEST SCHOOL in LA!!! My daughter is so far advanced in comparison to other children her age. I thank the teachers, staff and the Principal for making this school what it is. It is a small community of students, parents, teachers and staff who make everyone feel welcomed. I LOVE IT!!!

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
