Our grandson was fortunate enough to be a recipient of such an educational beginning. The school s motto says it all, Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. This adage can be applied to every life by everyone; young and old. This is what our children are coming away from Annandale with. With strong leadership being implemented by our ever tireless principal, Gabriel Arreguin, a solid administrative team including educators, aides, staff members, parent volunteers and our community as a whole, Annandale is in my opinion, one of the best elementary schools in the LAUSD because you know that these young minds are in good hands. No one could overlook the clean, shiny, mirror-like, linoleum floors. At one glance you can see that this school is carefully cared for and cared about. Annandale encourages school pride, responsibility and respect for one another as well as themselves. He still tears up when he thinks about his 6th graduation ceremony and the thought of his not returning to his Annandale family but he also says that when he graduates Morehouse that he wants to go back to Annandale and be a teacher. As he says, Annandale Rocks.

This school has gone downhill since the new principal, Mr. Arreguin, took over. My daughter is in a small classroom with 35 kids this year, and she was in a combo class last year almost as big! The former principal knew the names of all the students and was very friendly. The teachers I've talked to are also quite unhappy. I am pulling my daughter out as soon as Celerity accepts her.

The former principal, Mr. Nava, did such a great job. However, the new one is just not getting the job done. My son is going somewhere else for 6th grade.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL, BUT Iam very upset to know that the principal MR. Nava is leaving the school, I always felt so glad to have him as a principal in my childs school, because you could tell he really cared about every single student. the teachers are GREAT TOO!!!! I really think this school is great, just wish MR.NAVA would stay so that my daughter wouldnt be so sad!!!!

There is a new principle to the school in which is a breath of fresh air. Mr. Nava is bringing in new ideas to motive both parents and students. The school has great teachers and staff.

The prinicpal at Annandale believes in acknowledging children for their hard work and effort they put into learning. A little praise and acknowledgment goes a long way and make kids want to go to school and try their best in all they do.

I have to say that the parent who expressed his/her view of Annandale as a 'non-parent friendly' place is sadly mistaken. I have been a participant of the PTA at Annandale for over 3 years now and have been involved, first hand, in trying to get more parents to get involved. I have done all but spoon feed parents with motivation for getting their voices and thoughts heard. Maybe next school year you'll make your voice heard and ask how to get involved instead of waiting to be approached.

Annandale is a quaint school with a hard-working and dedicated teaching staff. Both of my children attend Annandale, and I am quite pleased with the education they are receiving. My one complaint is that the previous and current principals have done next to nothing to involve the parents. Previously, parents were not even allowed to be on the schoolyard before the first bell! The school also has no semblance of a Parent Teachers Association. Many parents, including myself, feel that the administration has alienated the parents due to our working-class backgrounds. Some of us believe that we have the wherewithall to make Annandale competitive with nearby elementary schools. Schools such as Dahlia Heights and Rockdale have innovative principals who have an articulated vision for their schools. Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our reach as Annandale parents until the school principal takes a more proactive approach in making us feel more welcome.

I would consider Annandale an excellent school. The overwhelming majority of teachers have been teaching at the school for more than ten years. Of these teachers, there are many that have been here since the 1980s. Unlike other schools, there is very little job turnover at Annandale. Furthermore, class sizes are small. When compared to other schools that may have class sizes of 30-40 students in the upper grades, the trend at Annandale has been that 4th and 5th grade classes hover around the 25-student mark. The campus is safe and the school culture is amazing.
