As a parent and an educator I feel strongly about saying that Baldwin Hills is by far one of the worst schools i've ever seen. This school is highly unoraganized. I would never recommend this school to any parent that cares about their child's education.
This school has potential, but lacks diversity. The magnet coorindator seems like she doesn't want to be there and w/o strong leadership the school won't improve it's scores.
This school has a magnet program within the regular elementary school. The students are basically all together, except during class times. In the morning before school starts whoever has yard duty can be heard screaming at the children to behave. They do not issue progress reports before the parent-teacher conferences and the teachers do not have a dress code.
I am very pleased with the LA's best after school program. All the staff members and coaches go out of their way for the kids , keep them in a structured learning environment. My daughter has been attending the program for two years, she is very content. The homework center, learning programs are outstanding, keep my daughter motivated.Keep up the good work .
I am very satisfied with the academic progress my eight year old daughter has made while attending Baldwin Hills Gate program.Mrs Makin,Mr Carrabello are excellent teachers who deserve recognition for the quality of their teaching.
This is an excellent magnet program. The teachers are open to parent suggestions and incorporates them in the curriculum. Afterschool program is just okay.
Baldwin Hills has an excellent magnet program available along with the SAS classes. My child has gone there for 4 years and I have been very pleased with her academic progress. This school has been a great start for her and she now has been identified as gifted and will move on to magnet for 6th grade.
Both of my son's have attended BH. My oldest son who is Autistic was in speacial education. I found BH to be very involved in devolping my oldest son's ability to be included into activities with the children that were in regular education. My youngest son has seemed to always have teachers who motivate and inspire him. The only thing I feel was lacking at this school is the amount of extracurricular activites.
Both my children attended BHES. They both fondly remember specific teachers who made a difference to them and they both dislike the principal. The office staff is a joke. There are about five teachers who are qualified and dedicated to teacher while others sit back for a paycheck. There is parent involvement which I sensed some teachers did not welcome. As a parent, I found it difficult to communicate with the principal, because she was always away from school. My overall review is that there is a strong parent/student body who insist on getting the best education and holding the teachers accountable and that is what has pulled BHES through.
I have to say that my child has only been there for one year, but Mrs. Sanders is one of the best teachers. She truly cares about the students and it shows with how the children excel and are genuinely happy. As for the Principal I had no type of interraction with her and don't believe she makes her prescence known as much as it should. Overall I am happy with the school and so is my child.
I have 2 neices attending this school. I have been very pleased with there performance and advance learning that has come out of this school. To have the ethnic base that it has it is a remarkable school.
My daughter attended this school 1st-5th grade. It started out great, but the teachers became disappointing. In 4th grade, they didn't have a permanent teacher the 1st half of the year. Children are kept in the gifted cluster programs, even when they are failing to perform and are becoming behaviour problems. The principal is very hard to touch base with.
Baldwin school is one the best schools I've ever known, it's a special place for student and teachers to work together and most of all they have alot to teach children. They involve children in the best of activities and after school programs than others. This school provides math, english, computer, science, and other programs for which they can get involved, learn the best and become better persons. I love this school and hoping I could get my other child from this school. My older daughter has graduated with 3 & 4 only. I am proud and happy with Baldwin Hills School, and recommend it to anyone.
Baldwin Hills Elementary Learn Magnet School is a wonderful neighborhood school. Since coming out of private school, my child has excelled in math and science! The instructor's credentials were excellent and that was evident in my child's report card! Better than Private School!
I love B. H. E. school. The teachers, principles, and staff are friendly and always willing to help.
