Hi... We do not yet send our child to Cheremoya (she's not old enough) but we are very open to the idea. And we hope that other parents send their children as well.. If we all do it then it can be great. Take the plunge! What we dont really like is that many of the "reviews" here are not reviews.. but more like press releases... posted by those who are in charge of grass roots organizations to support the school. It comes off as self serving. And when talking about the school, try to use more realistic adjectives.... words like "INCREDIBLE" and "AMAZING" just seem overinflated... you're selling too hard. it's a decent school that's getting better and one day will be really good. Undersell it... that way people will be pleasantly surprised. Oversell it and people cant help but be disappointed.
Seizing on the momentum and gains this charming school has made over the last 4 years, and INCREDIBLE new class has enrolled for 2014/2015 -- including a third Kinder room. Parent involvement picks up right where it left off, in late July, for our annual Summer Paint Rally. Find details at cheremoyafoundation.org, and on our Facebook page as well. This school is TAKING OFF -- come see what all the buzz is about!
Cheremoya Ave. Elementary School is one of the greatest schools in the area. I have personally recommended friends and family to take the kids to this school. One of the most important is the teaching staff that are the great in its place they know how to teach well to bring a none English speaker to become a gifted and top of the class student with all if his/her academics in a short time. Office staff member are also very nice and helpful with any questions. Above all they have the greatest Principle. Both my kids have attended to this school from preschool to 6th grade.
Cheremoya is on Spring Break but the campus is buzzing. The 1970's bungalows have been removed and the Cheremoya Wildlands will soon be built in this space. The Wildlands will complement and expand upon our current garden program - it will even have a tricycle path for our pre-school and kinders!!! Our Kinder play area will also be expanded to accommodate our growing local enrollment. Cheremoya Elementary is the complete package - great kids, families, teachers, Principal, enrichment programs and an after school program(s). On top of all of this Cheremoya Elementary has just been recognized as a California Distinguished School acknowledging it's academic achievement and community/parental involvement.
All I can say about this school is nothing but great things, as a child I attended this school and now my child attends here, the teachers are great, they not only teach our kids the academic portion but they also teach them values, parent involvement is awsome we're an extended family, the Principal always there to assist in any way she can...overall I give 5 stars
Cheremoya is a small, neighborhood school which has an amazing sense of community! we have a wonderful group of very engaged parents and fantastic teachers. Cheremoya was recently acknowledged by the California Dept. of Education (!!!!) as a Distinguished School for academic achievement and community participation. I am very proud to be part of the Cheremoya community and know that while my child is here will get the education and programs many parents seek at the private or charter level. We may not have a grassy field, but we are building the WIldlands. We may not have a pool, but we have a partnership with the Hollywood YMCA to get the kids access to a pool. We DO HAVE art, PE, music, advanced studies, a garden, lots of afterschool programs, amazing teachers, a strong principal and supportive staff and parents that care.
Congratulations to Cheremoya Elementary! We are pleased to announce that Cheremoya has received the very prestigious award and recognition as a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education.
My 11 years old son and my 6 years old daughter attend Cheremoya Elementary School and we love it. It is a very good school with caring and involved teachers. The principle and the staff are excellent. Parents are actively involved in supporting the school, and Cheremoya Foundation provides funding to enhance the student education. The school is small in size so we all know each other. Kids are taking good care of in that small community.
Cheremoya is a nice small school with a very friendly staff. Everyone is very dedicated to the education of the children. I have seen many generations come and go and they have been very successful. I hear that the area that needs some improvement is the cafeteria, my nephew tells me it's very small and crowded. Overall I have heard great things about this school.
I can only tell you that Cheremoya Elementary in Los Angeles is the BEST school EVER! Starting with the staff, teachers and the principal are true professionals, they really do care about the children. Both of my kids and some of my nephews have attended Cheremoya and I have nothing but praises for this School. I could change one thing about Cheremoya is that I wish Cheremoya was a Junior High as well a High School too, so that my kids can keep getting quality education from quality educators.
I've had a nephew and a niece graduate from this school. They have done a great job of teaching them and help them excel.
Cheremoya has improved so much. Parent's are reaching for out for little "star" so they can shine. Our API scores have improved and now is 844. We have diversity and special education which shows how powerful our community can be.
Cheremoya Elementary is a great school, and I am happy it was our choice. The Principle, teachers, and parents all seem to be a big nice family, supporting each other for the one great common goal - the academic and personal development and enrichment of our children!!!
My son doesn't go to Cheremoya yet, but I am following the Cheremoya foundation to help me make a decision. I am VERY impressed with what I've seen. The foundation of parents is not only dedicated and motivated to make the school the best it can be, they are also going above and beyond. Devoting a lot of time to ensuring the students have access to technology, arts, and outdoor activities. I am very impressed!
Cheremoya Avenue Elementary is a wonderful school, full of bright, engaging students and wonderful teachers who truly care about their students and support the school, The Principle is constantly involved and well-connected to the community. We feel safe bringing the kids to and from school with an organized Valet system in which teachers, parent volunteers, and principle assist. I feel a part of the community. I also love the variety of programs, incl. the option to enroll in Parker Anderson's rotation of extra-curricular options like "MatheMagic" and "Iron Chef" and the absolutely wonderful Garden Program run by the amazing EnrichLA. It has a gifted program (GATE), music program and a wonderful arts program...and so much more!... And the school just keeps getting better and better, thanks to the solid Cheremoya Foundation run by highly involved parents who truly care about the welfare of this school. Besides all the wonderful people and programs, it is a gorgeous architecture building from the early 1900's that has been kept up and recently renovated, keeping its architectural integrity intact. Coming soon are Wildlands, which will go well with the beautiful, edible garden.
Cheremoya elementary is such a great school. I feel really lucky that my daughter attends this school. Teachers and staff are so helpful. They care so much about their students. My daughter loves her school!
We have been in the school since Pre-k, each and everyone of the teachers feel like family, the festivals, the parent center, the valet parking, the office crew, our Ms. Gina, and the sense of respect, authority and the crisp good humor of the Principal makes it a great delight to participate and be involved, without forgetting the special and BIG helping hand that is the Cheremoya Foundation. Thank you Cheremoya Elementary!
I had the good fortune of lecturing to the 1st grade classes in 2009. I was so blown away by how well mannered the children were and what they were learning I took my soon out of his very chic private school and enrolled him into Cheremoya! I could not be happier. The school is on its way to becoming an ARTS MAGNET school, which makes complete sense since it is in the Beachwood Canyon area of HOLLYWOOD. The school is accessing all the talent that lives within the neighborhood. We walk our son to school from the top of Beachwood and are starting to see other families walk there too. We also are starting to see Cheremoya kids/families at all the local places in the neighborhood we frequent like the Beachwood Cafe and Market, the Oaks, Gelsons and Bronson Park. It is thrilling to see the community come together an rally around its local school!! You must see for yourself. We are having a blast with it all. - a local parent
My school is incredible! The Cheremoya Foundation has brought in funding for programs that the district could have never afforded to put in place. We have gardening, drama, music, art and wonderful after school programs. Each and every teacher here is dedicated to making a difference and inspiring learning and creativity in their students. I love teaching here! What a privilege to grow with this school!
Cheremoya is an amazing school. Every adult on campus is invested to the academic and social well being of each child. The students are fabulous. We have students of all ethnicities and backgrounds mixed together into this perfect little school. Last, but not least , the parents and families are supportive and very involved. A combination like this is hard to find anywhere else.
