Fremont is a great school to go to. It is in the ghetto but I have learned in the classroom as well as outside the classroom...

I am a former student of Fremont High School, class of 1980! I was a slightly above above average student ("B"). Fremont was a great school with awesome teachers -- Mrs. Coleman (Math), Ms. Ard (English), Mr. Funk (Government) and of course Mrs. Cato (Biology/Chemistry)! I have no regrets of attending Fremont High School -- proud to be a pathfinder and congraulate those teachers mentioned above for their passion in teaching students to excel and reach their highest potential.

Im a student at fremont high i am a sophomore and well right now fremont has changed a little its not a bad school it is all based on how the students do in class and on there tests. What makes the school look bad are the students that dont care about there grades and etc. In my opinion i think that what they did to fremont (reconstruction) has not helped much well maybe the uniforms made fremont look like a well educated school, but uniforms are not making us students any smarter but like i said Fremont is not a bad school its like every other school its just because its around the ghetto.The teachers now at Fremont are new than the teachers we had before i really dont know what was the point of fireing the teachers we had before if all teachers teach the same thing.

im a sophomore at Fremont and i have to say that theres no good or bad school it all depends on the students. in my opinion Fremont is a good school becuase their are alot of teachers that care if we pass or fail. i am going to admit that their are teachers dont really teach. but like i said most do care if we pass the class

Yes i admit the school is in a 'ghetto' but that has nothing to do how the students act in school. If students here fail its not the schools fault its there own.

I'm a junior at Fremont High School and it is true, they do not teach well. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever make it to college by going there. The campus is terrible and I see many innappropriate things.

This school has improved thanks to the principal who unfortunately is leaving. He put many procedures in place to help the school despite some of my union brethren fighting him on every little thing. I hope we can keep the school improving.

I am so happy i went to Fremont High. Although we are known as 'ghetto,' this is totally off from what Fremont is all about. Every school has it's problems. But fremont is dedicated to fixing them, and making every students future brighter. We may have lower test scores then other schools, but we have many ESL students that attend. This in no way is a negative, but a postive, because they add diversity to Fremont. I had the greatest years of my life at this high school. In no way would i have wanted to go anywhere else. Fremont pride of '08

I have attended fremont for three yrs. My experience at this school was great although it lacks organization, due to over filled classes. On campus was fun, but it was hard for students to maintain in classes such as myself, because of a lot of freshmen teachers. I have to admitt that my 10th grade teacher Ms.Honeycutt was my favorite, who teachers biology, although she doesnt work their anymore, she was the best teacher I had, that worked well with me and made sure I passed her class as well has my other classes. thankx Ms.Homeycutt I miss u!. Fremont has changed alot the pass yrs, their working to get better, and hopefully they will improve on thier high school levels...

This schools lacks organization and teachers. I mean good tecahers. I know that many students do not like to learn, but there are a few who do. My son complains about his teachers and I have met them already. I reviewed their classroom and they do not seem to be teaching muc. This school needs teachers who do not give pure book work. Many teachers do not interact with the students.

I'm A sophomore at Fremont High, and so far it's been a disappointment. Fremont teaches basic material, and I feel it's not going to prepare me thoroughly for collage. I took the P.S.A.T. last year, and was disappointed to see the material which I was learning only covered about 20% of the material on the test. Even in math, my strongest subject, I was simply lost because Fremont High isn't teaching us enough.

I like my job at Fremont, the problem is that there is virtually no parent involvement and the school is huge. The absentee rate is atrocious. Let's hope that breaking things into small learning communities will help. Decent sports, some art, some music but not nearly enough extra-curricular activities and students who should be kicked out for behavior problems or tagging, etc, are allowed to stay. Having said that, students who really want to succeed can and because of our low -income status there is much opportunity for outside enrichment programs and scholarships. Some of my former students have gotten 4 year scholarships due to their hard work and diligence. They just have to put up with knuckle head students and an ever changing administration. Most teachers are nice and willing to help students.

I am a Fremont Alumnus, graduating in the Zenithian Class of Summer 1956. When I attended Fremont, it was rated, all three years, among the top three schools in the country. We had teachers who were dedicated to teaching, and students who were dedicated to learning. Most of us, graduating in the '50s have done well in life. Fremont was one of the leading schools in Athletics in the State. The campus was also considered to be the most beautiful in Los Angeles County. Both my daughter and my grandson are also graduates of Fremont. It is painful to see how low Fremont scores and rates on academic achievement. If the problem lies at the feeding Middle School level, get better teachers on that level, and at Fremont. The only way out of the stigma of being a present student at Fremont is to produce socially and academically competent students.

I'm a C/O '89 alumni, and currently work at Fremont High School in the Special Ed. Dept. and Coach Girls Softball. I agree with the C/O '96 alumni, although Fremont High School's not a quality educational center, one shouldn't blame and complain about a place. Instead be the piece to the puzzle to turn it around in the right direction. Fremont has many good teachers and people who care. The reason that in many instances teachers need to go back and review middle school material is becouse kids weren't taught those things they're missing now in High School. Therefore we can't go forward when there's a lack of understanding at the foundation of a particular subject.

Not a parent. I'm C/O '96. Graduated with 3.94 GPA. Went on to Graduate with an Electrical Engineering Degree from Long Beach State and currently work for Boeing/NASA in Florida. Fremont HS does provide/supply their students with the foundation to achieve. It's up to the students and more parent participation to help produce quality graduates.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
