Administration seems clueless in dealing with issues that affect childrens overall well being in class.

My son attended this school from 2nd grade until 6th grade. I have to say that it was the best experience of his life. I like the diversity of this school. I would commend the principal and the teachers in their devotion to my son's academic growth.

My daughter has been at Gardner Street since the 1st grade, she is now in the 5th grade and she has made great academic strides each year! The administrative staff, teachers and PTA is very hard working and the proof is in the overall tone and test scores of the school. Gardner Street is a wonderful elementary school and our children are blessed to have the opportunity to learn in such a great environment.

While I get the impression that the administration has great intentions and is highly capable, I was mortified by the things my son's teacher said to his class. Sadly, my son was bored with his work last year.

This school is one of the best school so far that I have seen in the District 4 area. The quality of academics is good and they are well planned. Test scores for this school as a whole are high and the kids are very active in the education. They have a special education prgram for pre-school (PSM) which is a great program and the teachers and aids are excellent. The teachers for the general classes seem good as well. I have met the teacher for the kindergarden program. The school programs are more academic based and aids are provided for those who fall a little behind to insure they can keep on track. The staff and Vice Principal are wonderful to work with and as if with everything you as a parent need to be involved and the VP welcomes that and does her part to get you answers.

It is good quality of academic programs. The school offers basic music, arts, and sports. There is some level of parent's involvement. In recent years school improves a lot.

As the PTA President, new to public schools, I must say that this school has a lot of potential. My daughter get's as much enrichment here as her previous stint at a private school. There is lots to do, and after school activities. And with my involvement and getting other parents involved, it only gets better. The new Principal is engaged and committed. The staff is great. The problems which are mainly about parent involvement I'm finding have to do with language and cultural barriers that I'm slowly figuring out. And safety needs to be addressed only in the sense that a routine needs to be figured out. But this is being developed and I am committed to making this school even greater! If more parents within the affluent community came to this school and involved their support, half that of private schools, this place would be the best!

My daughter just completed 4th grade at Gardner. This is the 3rd school (and 1st public one) she's been to since 1st grade. The 1st private school gave a great education but my daughter was a minority of one, so she had no friends and was miserable. She had friends at the 2nd private school, but the school taught 2nd grade math in the 3rd grade, so she never learned multiplication or division in a classroom setting. Gardner is the first school she's been to where she is getting a good education (and the teachers have been GREAT about giving her before-school math tutoring to get her caught up), and she is also developing good social skills through her many friendships. She even told me she's going to 'miss school'over summer break, and she is looking forward to returning to Gardner for the 5th Grade.

Two years ago I enrolled my son at Gardner with great trepidation. My concerns were many and varied. After an initial bump in the road - which was smoothed by 'hands-on' attention from the excellent Principal, Ms Ripke, my boy has had a great experience at Gardner. Our sincere thanks to all of the faculty and staff for creating a wonderful learning environment.

It's been...15 years since I have been on the campus of Gardner, but I still remember how special my experience there was. My 6th grade teacher ( @ that time it went up to 6th grade) Mr. Esquivel was such an inspiration, that I hold his principles dear to me till this day. I have kept an ongoing tab of the school's progress, and I am PROUD to say that, in the midst of such a terrible time for our public school systems, Gardner Elementary is still able to harvest exceptional students and create a lifelong experience of diversity, fun, and education.

Gardner is a really good school. The principal is extremely capable and caring, the environment is very safe and stimulating, the teachers are good, a good number of them are exceptional. I'm very satisfied with the overall quality of the school. My kids look forward to going to school every morning, which is most important.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) School Experience Survey asks parents, students and employees about their school's learning environment. Results provide insight into school climate, such as whether the school is academically rigorous, engaging, safe, and collaborative. Learn more

We organized questions from the LAUSD School Experience Survey into five categories. The respondent group-level results (parents, students, and school employees) show the percent of each respondent group that agree or strongly agree that the school has positive results for that category.

Overall school results for each category are calculated by averaging across group-level results, ensuring that each respondent group is equally represented. Alongside the results for each school are the aggregated results across all LAUSD schools, which are provided as a basis for comparisons.

More from this school
  • Gardner St. Eementary School has a has a warm and welcoming environment. Our school is extremely focused on academics. In addition, we are now a 2012 California Distinguished School, Elementary Arts Program School and School for Advanced Studies. We have just opened our newest technology lab, the MusIQ Lab in the Michael Jackson classroom. All Gardner students now receive weekly musical keyboarding lessons supported by our great Friends of Gardnerville school support non-profit organization.
