The teachers at this school work really hard. There are a few teachers who do need to get fired, but you know....that teachers union keeps them protected. The school recently got a make-over: new doors, new windows and a good paint job. The school actually looks inviting and no longer looks like a prison. Overall the problem at the school is the lack of parental involvement. I've been to a few of the parent meetings and it's always the same groups of 30 parents (this is pathetic being that there are about 900 students on the campus)! If the parents were more involved in their children's education then the teachers would not have to spend as much time catching them up and challenging them more . My 2 daughters have gone to the school and I've been please with their performance and the teaching that has taken place there.
In all fairness, the school buildings are old - built in the late 1920s; early 1930s - and there are many old portable bunglalows. However, a new principal came on board in 2005-2006. There have been improvements. The District, not the principal, decides how many custodians work at a school site. The District, not the principal, decides if the facilities are to be repaired, replaced, or removed. If there are poor teachers, it's not because of a lack of effort. Pay professionals what they deserve...you would rather pay movie stars, football players, and bankers more than the professionals who guide, teach, and nurture your children. That's up to you. We teach because we want to make a difference for our students. We appreciate all the support from our parents.
Poor pre Kindergarden. Poor teachers
My daughter attends this school in a PreK level, and I have noticed that the school makes not effort in maintenance. Bathrooms are dirty, drinking fountains don't work properly. The school is in serious need of funds to hire more janitorial assistance. Overall, teachers are great, but it is discouraging to send your kid to a dirty school. The principal needs to pay more attention the the environment these kids are exposed to. All classrooms should be entitled to the same comodities, not some with more than others.
