My daughter went to this school and i am really happy i choose to transfer her out the lunch is horrible and the principle doesnt get involved like she should and help kids out, she needs alot of help with homework and theres a waiting period for La best other then that theres no staff or homecenter there kids are on there own.
My kids get special attention here at Monte Vista Elementary School in the city of Highland Park. There is always after school tutoring available and curricular activities in which they can participate in. I highly recommend it.
Although Monte Vista's test scores have indeed risen in the past two years, I believe it has become the main focus of the administration to the point of them overlooking such things as better enviromental awareness, enforcement of conduct guidelines (swearing) and reinforcing common courtesies in some children that get none of these things taught, let alone enforced, at home. They also need to come up with new ways to earn money for the school other than having kids sell candy & sweets that are not otherwise allowed on campus. I have also had problems with office staff relaying messages both ways so be sure to get a name. Also, why do they not have a soup label or General Mills points program instituted at a low-income area school that could sure use it's funding? Why always ask the parents for money?
