This school is great! This is my children's first year there so far it's looking great! The school is clean and the staff is friendly. I especially love the principals attitude. Shes always happy and shes supper nice! I would like to see more parent involvement.
My 2 children go to this school, one is in Pre-k and the other is in 4th grade. The Pre-k class is wonderful, and the 4th grade class is ok. One bad thing about this school is their intervention program it is awful, the person who is the head of this program does not care to do her job efficiently, the sad thing about this is that the children who need help will not get it
I am a former student of Multnomah and I graduated in 2006 im 15 and in high school now. This school prepared me for middle school very well and because of that im in a technical school now I still keep in contact and volunteer with my old teachers and they still remember me after these years have past.
A green school that teach our children to be respectful and enjoy nature at the same time.
My children have been at this school for three years. I have had problems from the very beginning. After having none of them solved I am looking for a different school.
We are leaving this school after two years participating in the Highly Gifted Magnet there. Our daughter's teacher was a brilliant educator hemmed in by a very rigid, by-the-book administration. The Principal at Multnomah is very condescending to both staff and parents and refuses to acknowledge any room for growth in the magnet programs. A number of families are now leaving due to the low morale of teachers and other staff at Multnomah. There is very little innovation as teachers are afraid to disagree with the administration in any way. As a result, the magnet programs are outdated and not offering the children in them an appropriate education, particularly the gifted learners.
This is a great school w/ a wonderful administration. Principal and staff put students above everything else. Most of the teachers are very dedicated and have worked very well with our children. The Principal does a great job of dealing with parents on a one to one basis and will take time to discuss even the smallest issue with parents. All admin/ staff are easily accessible, with the exception of one or two teachers.
For the record, there are many, perhaps the majority of, teachers at this school who will disagree with the previous review about the administration. We are a very dedicated, caring, and hard-working staff, but there are many current issues with the administration that have resulted in a serious decline in staff morale. Sadly, most of us do not feel safe or comfortable trying to open up the lines of communication with the administration either for fear of retaliation or because we do not feel our voices would be heard.
This a great school. Great teachers and best admin. They put students first and have two great magnet programs. Compared to our daughters last schools this school rocks!
I am very proud to be a parent of a Multnomah student. This school has instill many attributes in my child as part of the Highly Gifted Magnet Program. I give this school five stars.
Administration/Professionalism After experiencing a communication challenge with a specific teacher, I was very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of the principal who took ownership of the problem and was clearly interested in understanding our concerns as parents, the needs of her faculty and at the utmost was concern about the student. I categorically disagree with negative assessments of the administration. Gifted Program Instruction For tested gifted students 2nd-5th grades. ALL teachers are very professional, engaging, confident, skilled and experienced teachers. Highly recommended. Extra Curricular/Enrichment School is firmly committed to the arts even amidst the current state and local budget crisis. Music and dramatic arts rotations are available to all students. Other activities: student council, drill team, 1st runner up in city wide competitive basketball team, more. This is a very good environment for children. I highly recommend this school especially for gifted children.
I am extremely disgusted with the principal and Admin Staff. Principal is too arogant and unprofessional. Does not know the concept of privacy and has discussed personal matters in front of others. Obvious that she is only interested in her personal agenda. I strongly agree with some of the parents that wrote disatisfying reviews regarding the principal. She is also degrading toward the spanish speaking parent volunteers. They obviously irritate her even though they are there to provide service. Principal needs further training in being sensitive to the parents and student needs.
I love this school and miss it very much. The teachers her our some of the best eer and you will never forget them. If you send your chid here beleive when I sya that your child will have a fun and memorable time here. Trust me they will. I know because I graduated here and peole who don't even live in the neighborhood send there kids here because it is such a great school!
Multnomah Street Elementary School provides a quality education. The teachers, parents, students, administration, and staff all work together to create an outstanding learning environment. Multnomah also benefits from the two magnets on campus, Environmental Science and Gifted, which add diversity, though all the students interact and participate equally in the many extracurricular activities. Multnomah emphasizes athletics, citizenship, the arts, including music, choir, and drama, and academic achievement. Teachers are especially dedicated and parents are encouraged to participate and volunteer as much as possible. Multnomah students excel in a variety of ways and regularly represent the school in academic and extracurricular activities, such as the LA County Math Field Day and LA's Best team sports' tournaments. I have been very pleased with my fourth grade son's experience at Multnomah Street Elementary School. He and his entire family look forward to his fifth grade year!
Multnomah is a great school. There is awesome paraprofessionals and awesome teachers. The clerical staff is great also. The only issue that this school has is that administration is no good. As a parent I don't feel welcome at the school because of the administration their. I would rather stay away than help out. When Mrs. Rupp was in office and Ms. Marcella Hauffen was there the school was a much more delightful place to visit. So I am sorry to say that because of this I am not very happy about what Multnomah has become.
Multnomah Street School is a great school, the quality of academics taught by the teachers are excellent. The teachers are dedicated to their students and there are high levels of parent involvements. There are many extracurricular activities at the school that provides parent and child involvement in their studies, so that is a plus. My 17 year attended and graduated from Multnomah and my 7 year attends at this present time. The teachers are a great asset to the school and so is the prinicipal. I highly recommend this school.
Multnomah is a great school. Parent and Teacher involvement is very high there.
Multnomah Elementary School is an excellent school! The teachers, students, parents, and community work together to make sure each student is receiving a quality education.
My daughter loved this school! It is a very nice, clean school. With alot of school spirit and activities for the children of all grades. The best teacher is Ms. Lundy, 5th grade class.
My son is enrolled in the gifted magnet program. I have been very happy with his education here until recently. I was greatly disturbed by the last 'parent/teacher' conference. There was no teacher participation whatsoever. The child gave his own version of the grade scale, and frankly I believe while children should be a part of their review process and be held accountable, it is imperative that the teacher give his/her 'professional' views of the child's performance. With this format, we get a biased, filtered version of the child's performance. There is also no consistency in the grading. For example: a child is given a low grade in effort and a low grade in performance, or a high grade in effort and a low grade in performance, this makes sense. In this case the child received an excellent grade in performance and an unsatisfactory grade in effort, does not make sense.
