We have the most amazing school! It is lead by competent, dedicated and caring administrators. Teachers that have made the school an interesting, challenging and engaging place to learn. The school is supported by teaching specialists that have a passion in their field that is passed onto our children and parents that are committed to making it the most rewarding, and academically enriched school in the country. I love the fact that the teachers teach in an open environment, not dictated by LAUSD and this school offers the extras (such as sports, art, computers, gardening, music, performing arts) that has been cut from the budget long ago. The way this school can offer these wonderful programs is because our parents are so commited to their children's education that they fundraise and volunteer wherever they can. We are so lucky to be part of a great community.

We really did win the lottery when we got into Open. It's an amazing school with an outstanding staff, a diverse student body and wonderful parents who put so much time and energy into making our kid's elementary school experience the best it can be.

I have been the Environmental Education Specialist at Open Charter Magnet School for almost 15 yrs. I love being apart of this school community because our school feels like a family. The teachers, staff and parents are all supportive of each other in order to give our kids the best education and experiences possible. Our school is culturally, economically and educationally diverse. Our curriculum is open to everyone sharing their gifts and experience. The children learn to appreciate differences, treat each other and their environment with kindness and respect, and retain their own unique individuality while learning academic and life skills.

The mood is orderly but relaxed. Children seem committed to their tasks. Teachers are, too. Interesting variety of activities.
