I'm a 6th grader at Daniel Webster, I don't like the art class because they just put up a picture and not teaching you how to draw, annoying bad kids, needs cleaner bathrooms, I see cocharoces in the area, needs better teacher, and students at Daniel Webster like when I got punch by a 8th grader because he doesn't like people bothering him, but when you bother him hem he gets mad and punches yo in the face.

I am an 8th grader at webster middle school, and i love it. (almost) all the teachers are amazing, and I've learned so much that i have gone up a year ahead in math while I have been here. We have so many clubs to join, and it is so fun. I really recommend Webster to anyone looking for a middle school.

We had many choices for a middle school and I'm glad we chose Webster. It's a pretty, well-maintained, safe campus and I always felt welcome there when I showed up to help out. Class sizes are much smaller than at other middle schools and my kids had close relationships with several outstanding teachers. My two graduated in 2012 but we still visit and still interact with some of the faculty. We miss Webster!

My boys graduated from Webster June 2012. It was an amazing journey. I love the education they received, both academically and socially. The teachers and administration were wonderful. Webster has prepared my kids for high school. Go and step foot on the beautiful campus. Having a uniform was definitely a huge plus too!

I am a 7th grade student at Daniel Webster Middle School. The teachers at Webster are amazing, they truly care about you. Although, some kids may complain about this school I know that Daniel Webster is a fun place to be. Once you go into Webster you can feel the joy! I look forward to coming everyday and learning something new. A lot of parents may worry about their children being in a bad school, Webster is completely the opposite of that and has risen up over the last few years. The students here are great and the faculty is fun and caring. You do not have to worry about keeping your children safe because here at Webster to teachers students come first. Webster is dedicated to excellence in all that we do! Go Webster!

My son is in the 6th grade and loves this school! The teachers really seem to care and this is what impresses both me and my husband the most. The campus is very attractive and Webster's website is very helpful. You can find anything you need to know about the school. I understand that they really upgraded the website and it shows. We had 3 different schools to choose from and are very happy that we chose Webster.

A good school with good leadership and great teachers. There are many options with schools, I am happy that my kids go to Webster. My wife loves the uniforms. The principal is accessible. The teachers are creative and challenging! The classroom sizes are small which allows for better learning. Teachers and staff know and care about the students. This is a wonderful community school.

This is my son's second year at Daniel Webster Middle school and we chose this school over a Culver City school. I know we made the right choice. I love the teachers, VP's and principal the are amazing!! I feel many people overlook this school because of the bad reputation it had. Not now this is a GREAT school that needs parents to give it a chance. My son's classes have no more than 25 students in each and the current student population is less that 700. Need I say more?

Webster aint half bad. I guess it's good school, but it's SOOOOO boring. i know your supposed to go to school to learn and everything, but sometmes we just need a lil slack. They got us locked up in the lunch area or the PE field with nothin' to do. And some of the kids there are kinda wierd, but i've made a lot of good friends, too. I like the teachers though, which isn't something you normally here from a student, but most of them are real cool and they actually show that they care about you. I'd recommend it most peoples.

im a sixth grader at webster. many peple say its a bad school but i dont see anything bad. there are a couple of fights and people call each other names but which public school doesnt. many of the students are really smart. just today we had the honnor roll assembly and we had over 300 students get called up there. that is mostly because of the great support of all our teachers. my teachers ar ms. strong and mr. collins which teach science, history, math, and english and all i can say is that they have helped me a lot. there are also a lot of teacher that teach electives. like right now i have mr.barret (music teacher) the class im in right now is beging strings and ive been playing since the 3rd grade but the kids are so much better than me already. well thats all.

wow what can i say about this school....well first of all for everyone who says this is a bad school they're wrong. This is a really nice school... it has taught me so much.... i am in the SAS program and the teachers are amazing! They make class so much fun.... last year i was in 6th grade and i had the best teachers. I had Ms. Strong, Ms. choi, Mr. Berrett, and Mr. Lewis. There is no one like them although Mr. Lewis doesn't teach there it is still good; he was a great teacher and taught us so many things. As for my other teachers they were great too. Ms. Strong had a special way of teaching she made it fun. This school has taught me so much, this is where i met some of the best people, and also Ms. Wallace is a great principal!

I'm going to be a 7th grader at Webster this year. This school brought many challenges to me, but I lived up to them. There are some really talented teachers here who know how to deal with and talk to kids our age. The 6th grade SAS History and L.A. teacher Ms. Strong knows how to teach in a way that makes learning fun and you understand the idea or concept of each lesson. Many other schools like Palms and Paul Revere always talk about how Webster is such a bad school but they ll never really know until they give it a chance. Before I started going here, I heard there was gun shooting and all that other stuff... but that is not true. I'll admit it wasn't always the best school, but our principal Ms. Wallace has changed the school so much to give me a safer environment.

But how ever i love this school. When I first visited DW, it was to rule it out as a choice. That quickly changed. I had a gut feeling I was doing the right thing and so far I have not been disappointed and my daughter is excelling in all classes and loves this school. Its beautiful campus and being a smaller school has afforded my daughter to feel important, something not achievable at a bigger school. Kendra Wallace is a Hands-On Principle and we are very fortunate to have great teachers. I will continue to have high expectations, nothing less. It is scary and difficult to know if we are making the right decisions for our kids. But at the end of the day, it is our responsibility to help keep them on track and be involved with the school and its teachers. I have been reading these reviews and I am now happy to post mine.

The student who wrote the review below is obviously talking about the wrong school! I fully agree with the teacher's comments of Feb. 12. A small school (under 1,000 students, half the size or smaller than the other local middle schools), small classes & good teachers are why we chose this school. The administration, led by the amazing Mrs. Wallace, has safety and a sound academic environment for our children as their top priorities. As for books, all students receive a second set of the core subject books to keep at home so they don't have to drag them everyday back and forth. How can someone say we don't have books?! In addition, our library has a very impressive collection. Yes, issues do arise, but that's everywhere, and they're handled quickly and properly. Remember, test scores don't always give a true reflection of a school. Come visit & see for yourself.

That statement is just not true. Webster has small learning communities and all of the class sizes are less than 25 students because they got some money to make it happen. There are sports here and lots of after school arts programs and tutoring and music. We have an SAS program and those of us in it are learning a lot and have challenging assignments. Our teachers work together and know whats going on. Sure there are fights some times - but there are fights at all schools. Every student has a text book, we have computers in every classroom and two computer labs. 8th graders take foreign language classes and there is a colegee program called AVID. Anyone can write comments on here even people who know nothing about our school - you need to visit Webster before you believe what you read.

This school is the worst school in the district. Student have horrible behavior problems. Fights WEEKLY. Student behave so horribly that teacher have given up and are just babysitters for 6 hours. Not only are the students hostile and rude, the administration is corrupted. The school has very limited supplies and books are very outdated. Too many students are bussed in and do not even care about learning and have very little regard for others and their property. The curriculum is low and the honors program is equivalent to the regular classes at other schools.

Daniel Webster is an excellent school. You get out of a school what you put into it. You send your unruly kids here, they will be unruly. If you're a parent who complains and never visits, you will continue to complain. The teachers care, the principal is great, and it is an atmosphere for learning. More extracurricular activities are needed and more parent involvement is needed desperately.Teachers can't fix everything that is wrong with our schools, they can only do their jobs. If you want to complain call the Superintendent and tell him to release some funds!

At first I did not want my child to attend this school. It wouldn't ever be my 1st choice. The only reason why my child attends, is because she would be in all AP classes & there is one teacher that assured me, my child would be ok. The over all school setting when my child entered in 6th grade (2004) was something to be desired, however since they have a new principal who really knows her stuff there have been phenomenal changes. This principal has an open door policy and is very personable with all the parents & staff, and encourages involvement. Besides the couple of excellent teachers (that still care about the kids education & aren't just collecting a check)you know who you are! Ms. Wallace is the best thing that has happened to Webster in a long time. Keep up the good work & stay focused!

My child is a soon-to-be 7th grader. She loves this school and does not mind taking the city bus to get there from about 7 miles away. Webster provides her with opportunities that the schools around our neighborhood will not provide. She currently has a 3.6 gpa and looks forward for the new school year. I thank all the teachers for guiding her in the right direction. It's seems that things haven't changed much since I attended Webster.

This is a poor school due to the environment. The behavior is a problem and the staff is not very good at communication or getting back to you when there are problems with the students. It has not been a good experience for my child. Webster has been a disappointment due to the staff not being involved with the children and their needs. Teachers don't make the effort to get with the parents and the parents that do make the effort don't get a response from the teachers. There is lack of control on the teachers part with the students.

As a former student, PTSA member and parent of a 6th grader, I admire the effort of the staff. I'm distressed by the fact 80 % of students are bused in. The kids are great, but the resources involved are a major burden to the LAUSD, environment and most importantly to the kids. Kids often need an hour or more, each way to get to Webster. No wonder the system is gasping for funds, we are gasping for air, and the kids are exhausted and under perform. Forget the politically correct, bring back community based schooling. Kids will respect their neighborhoods, be more focused and parents can make it to school, meet the teachers and get involved. Who will profit from these adjustments, we all will-but mostly the kids. One more point, forget the no kids left behind concept, sounds good but I want my kid to graduate, not culminate.

I think there is no other school like Danie Webster. The students are bussed 2hrs a day to and from school. There is bell to bell instruction 8 periods a day. 1300 students are feed, taught, counseled, encouraged, challenged, and loved with no sense of appreciation from the public or parents...teachers there do it because they feel a mission, a calling. Our student no one else 'wants' because of socio economic status or race. Come and visit the school, talk to the teaches, go into the many classrooms striving to achieve...then make your judgement. Would you give some time to the school as a volunteer?...if not then don't judge, hipocrates will not enter into the favor of children's hearts.

This is a poor school academically as well as it's appearance. There are never enough supplies for the kids, and there's too much red tape to try to help the school. I tried to donate a case of paper so the kids would have copies for homework. For some reason, that wasn't allowed. I don't get it. There are also too many unruly kids in this school. They pick fights and have no regard for anyone else or items belonging to anyone. I couldn't write enough in this little box to express my disappointment in this school. If you have a choice to send your child somewhere else, please do it at whatever cost.

Webster is a school that is transitioning. The teachers they've hired in recent years are fantastic, the school climate is getting better, and the API scores are going up. Most of all, the teachers really care about the kids. There needs to be more electives because the extra curricular activities just are not enough. I have to say that after speaking to a teacher about this, she said that there is no money for electives and that most of the extra activities at lunch are teachers putting in their own time, for free because they believe in the students. That tells me a lot about the school. I am glad my daughter is going there.

This is by far the worst school in the district. Other activites are seldom provided, the safety level is dangerously low. When filing a complaint about another student, it never gets taken care of in a professional manner. The teachers never are willing to help whenever a student has a problem with the class, at school or at home. They are hostile and very rude. Do NOT let your child go to this school. The API scores speak for themselves.

Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
