I have a child enrolled in Kindergarten at Frederick Douglass Academy Elementary School (FDAES). Mrs. Cole is a wonderful principal who is approachable and warm. She tries her best to work with the parents and staff to provide the children with a positive experience in school. Mrs. Curry, the Kindergarten teacher, is one of the most dynamic teachers I have ever met. I feel grateful to have found a school that encourages my child to be the best.

This school is GREAT...The principal Ms. Cole is the best....She is involved in everything that goes on with the school....They make sure parents are involved and the staff works together...When I first walked in the school I knew it was the school for my daughter who was entering first grade...The receptionist Ms. Washington made me feel as if she had known me for years....If only this school was around when I was looking for my older kids a school!

The Director of the school (Mrs. Cole) is GREAT!!!! She surrounds herself with a good group of teachers. Unfortunately, she has no control of ICEF which is the umbrella that Frederick Douglass falls under. They make decisions that aren't in the best interest of the children or school. Their decisions are made solely by $. Don't expect ICEF to stand by their word. They plan they originally signed up the families under didn't bring in enough cash so they've changed the game with no notice to their parents. My unsatisfactory grade is solely for ICEF the organization.

This is an excellent accelerated school. The staff seem to really care about the students and the academics is top notch. My child grew 2.5 years in the first year there. They have a great reading level program and they encourage strong parent involvement.
