Bullying is a big issue here. Academics are poor. No transparency or consistency with procedures such as discipline, grading, the fair (no proper disclosure of accounting). The principal was a great teacher. Now she is a poor principal. They've gotten rid of two of the best teachers. Jr. High is a joke, it won't prepare your child for any of the challenging high schools such as Loyola.
my son was bullied. but much worse with my daughter who has been body shamed nearly constantly with no help. she's totally normal size. really. and this problem is societal. but really with mostly female teaching staff and principal you'd think this would be something that they would address.
a leader would: demand accountability and transparency. would report how much money is made at the fair and what are the costs. would take care of the bullying at the school. would demand better academics - i.e. more closely aligned with the requirements of the better schools such as Loyola, etc.
bullying is ignored. when bullying is tolerated, what message does that send to kids? it's a Catholic school and the Priest does a good job with the kids, but this is specifically directed at the school.
the homework is close to what should be expected; but the point is too much needs to be done at home and explained by parents because in-class teaching is generally chaotic (poor student teacher ratio, some teachers lack general skills)
We have been at St Francis for 8 years and could not imagine a better school. Involved parents and caring teachers has been my experience I have not seen burnt out teachers and have always been amazed at the high quality and enthusiasm of the teachers and the teacher aides. There is a great demand to get into this school for good reason and we were fortunate to send our child here. We have had discipline and social problems along the way but the teachers and administration were always helpful and the problems were resolved. Count yourself lucky if you are able to have your child attend this school.
We love this school! There is so much to offer for our child. The classroom sizes are large however there is an aide in every class and if there is a problem I always feel heard. The parent community is awesome... It's like a second home
This school is at capacity in several of it's classrooms, which has resulted in high student-teacher ratio. It honestly feels like our voices are not heard or warranted, because if you're unsatisfied, they'll dismiss your family and take any another candidate.
