I agree with most of what has been said, except the part about the second grade test scores. I am a parent of a second grader and their test scores are low. I also personally did not weather the tuition increase well at all. And as you can see from this year, the tuition went up again. I think we should respect that everyone's experience is going to be different and thus our facts will be different too.
I agree! This school has been wonderful experience for my kids. The past two years have been tremendous. Visitation really delivers!
I mostly disagree with the review below. As a senior/experienced teacher at Visitation, I could not be happier with the new administration and changes. The pastor and the Principal ARE supposed to work together for the students in the school and that is exactly what they are doing. Every faculty member is top notch and fully supported. Test scores are extremely high, and the second grade scores are at some of the highest in several years. Also, I know for a fact that the new athletic director and principal are working WITH parents to elevate the athletic program...constant improvement! Isn't that what we want from our school? Bravo Visitation! The good thing about the tuition increase last year was that from now on there will be very minimal if any increases in the coming years (this was explained to us by the principal at the parent meeting last spring). Most of our families weathered that increase well, and the principal was able to offer tuition assistance to our families who had difficulty with the increase. I kindly urge the person below to consider all the facts. I do agree that the facilities and curriculum have been increased tremendously. Well said!
The parents and teachers are what make Visitation a great place to send your kids. The principal is nice, but "green" in his leadership and management style. The second grade teacher is not very good and the principal has not responded to the numerous complaints he has received about this teacher. He also doesn't know how to balance the needs of the Pastor vs. the Parents and he has alleniated some of the senior and experienced teachers. Change is good, but there is a right and a wrong way to do it. If you are looking for a strong athletic program, then Visitation is not the school for you. Little attention is given toward developing a strong athletic program. The athletic director is new this year and the program seemst to have gotten worse. Great improvements have gone into the school facilities and curriculum such as security, technology and the new playground, however, not enough to justify the significant tuition increase the happened for the 2011-2012 academic year. It hurt a lot of families in this recession.
This year has been one of the very best at Viz! The new principal is completely committed to the education of the students, the growth of the school and to ensuring that the best teachers are teaching our kids. He is smart, enthusiastic, spiritual and forward thinking. He is present at school everyday, available to speak with the parents and routinely visits the classrooms and knows all of the students! He handles problems quickly and appropriately and open to suggestions and parent ideas. Along with the new Pastor (who is also great!), Viz is an awesome place for our and your kids to learn and to grow! We love the school and would not choose any other!
The new principal is amazing! We recently moved from another local Catholic school simply because of all the great things happening this year. I have been so happy with the change. The teachers are the best, with credentials and Master's Degrees. The new principal is always there and involved. Also, the parent community we have been introduced to is so welcoming. WE LOVE VISITATION!
It is a wonderful small school that gives their children the attention and tools they need to thrive acedemically as well as spiritually. The principal and staff are always available and truly care about each and every one of their students. It's refreshing and about time I found an "educational home" for my son. I feel very fortunate to have my son attending this school.
The school has recently changed principal. It is so different now. This new principal gets involved in the school's activities. The whole community is thrilled to have him as our new leader. He is hands on with projects, parents and students. This has been a big change that has brought this school to be a better one.
Great school. One classroom per grade. Kids are challenged academically and have fun at the same time. Their state test scores show that the kids are above average even though the test is given at the start of the school year unlike some schools that give it almost at the end of the school year. Great new 4th grade teacher! Kids attend mass once a week. Alot of afterschool activities onsite like drama, choir, sports, and tutoring. Teachers care about the students. Most parents are active and involved in the everyday activities. Principal is not too visible but always available when needed. My children have thrived at Viz! Yours will too!
Lovely small Catholic school, with nice kids and some very dedicated staff. The after-school program has amazing directors, and the kids thrive there. Straight forward academic curriculum, a lot of love from parents. Administration is not very strong in leadership, direction for different learning styles and problem solving skills. There could be some updating on diversifying the curriculum to address the school's multi-cultural community. Just needs a stronger vision.
