Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
I agree with previous parent, we are seeing positive changes. Teachers are caring and enjoy what they do. Our family has been in the Catholic private school system for many years and I can only say that there is a difference between public and private Catholic schools. My siblings and I went through the public school system and I know that the teachings are so very different. Here at St. Dominic it's about respect, moral values, and learning. Our kids are in a safe, caring environment which is priceless. All schools go through uniform, logo, mascot changes so it's not unusual. Yes, there is fundraising but that is part of all private schools, from elementary through high school. It is the parents that make things happen. So, you have a choice to be here or not because you are paying for their education. Public schools have very little of this involvement and parents are not required to participate if they want. It is your choice to either be a vital part of your child's education or just sit back and complain and let others do the work. St. Dominic's is always happy to receive doers, leaders. We the parents have a choice, so make it a good one!!! GO SAINTS !!!
I'm not sure what the reviewer below is talking about. Kids aren't leaving the school, on the contrary, we just opened 2 pre-school classes and the school had to turn away some kids because too many wanted to enroll. Teachers are awesome and the principal is doing her job just the way she should be. We did a great job at the Academic Decathlon and students are happy. St. Dominic's may not be the best school but it is definitely a great school and a school we can be definitely be proud of!
I went to this school and through the years many students have been leaving. The class sizes are getting smaller, people moving to different schools... Yes that was good since it meant smaller classes but ever since the new principal came years ago, the school has been going down hill. This school needs teachers who are good at what they are teaching. I also heard that they are changing the uniforms? What's that about?! Now the families will need to buy new uniforms, that is such a rough expense.
The teacher student ratio is wonderful 25 to 1 max. This has been very helpful with my childs education. The test scores continue to rise! Real excited about the extended school year cant wait to see the effects. Met some of the New teachers real happy with the new focus on tangible results.
With the new Pastor on board.....The school is moving in the right direction. Happy with the new focus and direction. The principle can do her job now and the change is all positive. The cleaning up of the front office was the best thing to happen. The new front office staff real helpful and positive.
Great School! My kids love it here. The teachers really work hard. There are a lot of exciting activities.
this school is really about raising funds. too many fees to pay. but yet, you don't see improvements, the staff is unfriendly, the principal is unapproachable and their # 1 priority is not about student academics, but how can we raise funds? show us where you putting all these funds..and stop charging fees we don't meet the quota..its so ridiculous.
The main problem with this school is the principal. The principal is very difficult to approach and is basically unfriendly. She doesn't properly address any concerns that we've had. However, we've had a great experience with the teachers, other parents, and students.
I am an 8th Grader currently attending this school. I will soon be graduating in June. I have attended St. Dominic School since kindergarten and I have seen the changes that this school has been through. Over the years, I have learned a lot from this school. My behavior inside and outside the school campus remains at a polite, respectful, and outgoing level. St. Dominic has also helped me get into the high school of my choice. Yes, I am noticing that this school is going downhill, but if you give this school a chance you will see that your child's ethical behavior and academic abilities will increase (that is, if they don't rebel). I love this school and my memories of it will never fade. When I graduate, I will show people how St. Dominic School has molded me into a confident student.
My kids attended St. Dominic s for many years and never had a problem or concerns, it was great! The previous leadership had everything under control, there was a lot of parent participation. The partnership was wonderful really balanced. Over the past few years new leadership has been a responsible for good families leaving by poor decision making. The school has been clear they re main focus is about revenue & is obvious by the number of fund raisers. I strongly feel they don t have the student s best interest. We stayed two years too long in trying to make a difference but couldn t there was too much yellow tape it s like a dictatorship. Best move I've made was switching schools only regret wish we have done it sooner. Best of luck to families that stayed back trying to make a positive change but in my opinion its only gonna get worst!
Enrollment is at its historic low which should speak for itself. My daughter got into exceptional high schools with scholarships with our family's dedication to her education which I believe should be excercised first at home. Its a great school with a lot of potential if parents are willing to get involved both at school and at home. You can't blame the school for all its failures. Its a partnership between parents, teachers and faculty that needs most improvement. Parents should get over the leadership concerns and instead of resisting change, embrace it - be the better person and try to work with the school for your children's sake. don't walk away from the school, accept the challenge!
There's alot of changes goin on around here curriculum programs are going downhill.I think some students are on top of their class just because they are not challenge enough they are not prepare for the rigors of high school. You shld. really look around first before you leap to this catholic school.there's a lot of public school that really have a good curriculum that prepare their students for high school and register them to cathechism..
students behavior are ok.uniforms are just physical features.they don't reflect the religious school.I think some students are really behave inside the school but when they are outside...????? you have to be here at this school to see the difference.
St. Dominic is a great school!! My daughter loves this school and is learning so much from her teacher. Strict but a committed one. She's all about the well-being of her students. A lot of homework and memorization for her grade level-but very beneficial. Overall, I'm very satisfied and happy with the school!
St. Dominic has potential to be a good school. Student to teacher ratio is a large problem as well as safety.
This school has become a huge disappointment. It has gone down hill over the past 3 years. The teachers for the most part mean well but the leadership at the school overshadows their efforts. When looking for a catholic school make sure to tour other schools before settling on one. Parent help is welcomed here but only if you agree with the principal and don't try to bring in new ideas.
the #1 curriculum here is religion. So if you want your child to learn more on science & math this is not the school for your kids. You could bring your kids for extra bucks at kumon after school, for extra learning the #1 curriculum here is religion.if you're looking for a school to prepare your kids for the rigors of high school this is not the school to go to. anyway, you can bring your kids here for safety reason.
This is a really good school. If you are looking for teacher/parent commitment and a quality education, this is the place. However, there aren't enough extracurricular activities and do not have enough programs available to the children. But if you like small town, religious and the community atmosphere, you will love this school.
