Through the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Choices program, you have the option to attend your neighborhood school, any school in the district through Open Enrollment intradistrict transfers (provided there is space), one of 173 magnet schools and 104 charter schools. You can also apply to a school outside the district (interdistrict transfer). Through Permits With Transportation (PWT), a court-ordered program to support integration, you can apply to attend certain schools if you live in the PWT sending school area. School applications are due in early January.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as "in need of improvement" have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
