My daughter attended A Child's Place on Venice - loved it! Marynell Whitcomb is a wonderful director - warm and caring, and the staff was great. My son attended Bright Beginnings on Washington - also a very good school, and recommended by MaryNell when we needed a place closer to our new home. I would recommend both very highly - similar in their developmental approach, safe, warm, caring, creative - directors listen are responsive and experienced.

1st Class Prep Preschool - 3645 McManus Ave - (310) 925-6394

I am very pleased with the one-on-one attention my children receive at this school. Last year, my older daughter attended, and there were about 9 kids in the class. Because of the small group, the kids and parents were all very comfortable and familiar with each other. In addition, the kids come from many different social and racial backgrounds and range from 3 to 5 years old.

The teacher - Mari Davis - is excellent with the kids, and has a lot of patience, even with the younger ones. They come home with the cutest art projects, and the curriculum is effective in teaching letters, numbers, and handwriting.

Plus, I think the cost is a great deal, at $500 per month for half day (9am - 1pm), five days a week. They offer after care up until 3 pm for an additional cost.

The facilities are also great. The preschool room is located at Syd Kronenthal Park in East Culver City. You have to register through the City of Culver City's Parks and Recreation Office. Be sure to choose Mari Davis' 1st Class Prep Pre-K class.

I'm now back for my second year, and have two children enrolled. It gives me great peace of mind to know that they are being cared for in a productive, nurturing environment, and are having a great time!

The Office of Child Development located next to Farragut Elementary runs an outstanding preschool program. Our son thrived there and we loved the program.

My daughter started at Culver City Montessori Preschool (on Washington near Sawtelle) at 2 and is now reading and doing addition at 3 1/2. We are so happy with her progress. The parents are great along with the staff. Very clean school, well kept materials and large playground. I believe my daughter has gotten a great head start in life and in her education.
