Awful school for kids and there youth. uniforms on such young children?! Uneducated teachers, horrible communication. A money hungry school.
My 2 daughters are in the school for years. I have to say that the teachers are very loving and caring. My daughter's teacher gives free after school math classes for his students. No problems communicating at all. It is the parent responsabilioty to ask for the progress of his children and there is no problem asking for that any time, any day. E-mail is one option, talking to the teacher at 3PM, any day is another. This is in response to the comment of the previous parent.
I'm new to Sherman Thomas. It s an OK school comparing to regular schools. But being a charter school they need to stand out more, from other regular schools. They say -we are a family- but it's almost half of the school year and we haven't had a parent meeting to talk about how the school is doing in general; how we can help and also parent input etc. Teachers communicate via email, but the only thing that I would like to see more and I would bring this up in a meeting, that we haven't had, is that, they shouldn't wait for progress reports to inform us that our children need help. I recently emailed my daughter's teacher about her struggles, but she failed to communicate to me about her struggling in history. I came to find out on the progress report. They can improve on this area.
My three children attend STCS, and I have been so pleased with there progress through the elementary years. This is more like a family, and the concern for the children is the highest quality. The administration is always available, and go the extra mile when needed. What a priveledge to send my children to STCS.
My husband is millitary, and we move around alot, but my children have had the opprotunity to attend and we love the teachers and staff there. We can't wait to move back!
Principal is awesome she really ministers to kids on a day to day basis. The teachers that I have interacted with on a personal basis are awesome and really want to teach your child what they need to know and you can tell that they really care about the kids that go to this school. I have had my kids in three other Madera schools and none of them compare to Sherman Thomas. Melanie
Academic programs are still new to me. Needs a music and art program and more sports. A-lot of parent involvement. My child likes it here.
Sherman Thomas Charter School has been a godsend for our family. Our youngest daughter has just bloomed since she started attending this school. She is thriving with the smaller class sizes and the school's staff, which treat the children with respect. I would highly recommend the school to anyone who is tired with the overcrowding and burnout seen in most Madera schools.
Sherman Thomas Charter School is Awesome. They made a commitment to keep class size down, and education a priority, and they have kept their promise. They care about each and every student. I have three children, and I have had a few different experiences (public and private)with school types; by far Sherman Thomas is the best!
