Moving up to Magalia from the Bay Area was difficult. I did not think my children would adapt well in school. My first grader was reading at a kindergarten level. My second grader was nervous about having to make new friends. Once they started at Cedarwood, I could not believe how involved everybody was in helping the kids adjust. Mrs. Montieth (the principal) is outstanding. During their first week at school, I received a phone call from Mrs. Pullium (reading recovery teacher) letting me know that they were going to put my first grader in a reading program. I am very proud to say, that by the end of the year, my first grader was reading at grade level. This is an A+ school!

This is a newer school for the area. I've heard good and bad things about it and was leary to send my child there but once he went my fears quickly were put to rest. I had a great experience with the teachers and their programs. My son has a hard time with school and they quickly noticed this and set up an intervention to try to maximize his learning experience. Every time they wanted to try something new they'd call me and ask how I thought it would be best to approach the issue then explain to me their thoughts on how to best solve the problem. They have after school programs for the kids who need extra help and several new programs they keep trying to help challenge the kids and make them perform to their best abilites.

The kindergarten teachers are wonderful! Barb Velikonia in particular is a phenomenal teacher. The only drawback to this school is the poor area, with many children receiving less than stellar home care and support.

I have two children that attend this school, one in 5th grade and one in 1st. Both have been there since Kindergarten. I love all the teachers they've had, and the Principal is wonderful! All the staff are very friendly, and when I participate in the class, the staff helps me feel as if I'm part of the group, and that helps me to feel comfortable with the atmosphere. I've even become great friends with one of the first grade teachers that both my children have had. My third child will definitely be enrolled there when his turn comes around! Thanks Cedarwood!

Cedarwood is an excellent school with all of the pieces in place for a child to receive a well-rounded education. It is definitely the best elementary school in Paradise Unified School district, and the principal is continually trying to upgrade every aspect of the curriculum for students at every level of achievement (yes, even gifted students!) which is absent at many other sites! A wonderful office staff keeps things running smoothly and provide a friendly environment for all. My children have loved, and continue to love their experience there!

Wonderful atmosphere for my children to learn in. Parent participation welcomed. The principle and teachers are very friendly, with both students and parents. This schools modo is bully free! Cedarwood has had the highest state test scores for the last three years and is highly recomended to any parent with children ranging from Kindergarten through fifth grade. I have two children that have been attending this school since my oldest started kindergarten, and I have had great pleasure working, and volunteering my time with the children, teachers, the principle and the parents. I pray that my oldest daughter will have teachers and a principle at her new school this coming year as wonderful, skilled, patient and caring as the teachers she has been so blessed to have because she is growing up and out of Cedarwood Elementary. Thank god my youngest still has three more years with all of these people. They make everyone feel very welcome, and they work with you as a team to insure that your child will get a great education. If you are considering moving to the Magalia, Ca area, and are looking for somewhere your child will recieve the best education around, I highly recommend this school. Good luck!
