So disappointed with this school. Came from Mariners Elementary and Mammoth Elementary can't compare in anyway. Its sad to see how bad schools can be and not have options.

Love the new principal! I hope she's going to put her ideas into place! I feel communication is more than acceptable. Teachers have 25-30 students to keep track of. I have just my own children. I ask specific questions and get specific answers. Excel groupings are not a secret. Again, ask the teachers. Not sure what the previous post refers to. I am optimistic change is happening for the better at MES.

There is poor communication between the teachers and the parents! Teachers do not tell parents which EXCEL group the students are in, they don't send home graded tests for parents to review, they don't tell parents the outcome of assessments. How can we get out of performance improvement without parents getting more involved in their children's education, and how can we do this if we are left in the dark? Communication should not just happen at report card time. Even then they don't volunteer the information about the EXCEL grouping - it's a big secret.

This school has wonderful teachers who are hard working and very dedicated. However, the huge number of English Language Learners is really taking a toll at this school. Dual Immersion program seems to be popular, but has lowered test scores for native english speakers. Seems that Dual Immersion program has also created a divide among familes. I heard someone say it is like having two separate schools under one roof. (One for DI and one for non-DI). Wish there was another option available in our area.

School is struggling. There are GATE classes in name only. Otherwise, nothing for academically bright kids. There is a dual immersion program for students who start out in kindergarten, but for students who start the school at a later year (e.g., move in to the district after starting school), there is little benefit academically. The effort to bring test scores of non-English speaking students up takes its toll on the rest of the academic program.

The teachers are amazing - very dedicated to our children. Two-way immersion program seems to be causing a lot of conflict though. GATE program is non-existent which is pretty disturbing. But those wonderful teachers pretty much make up for it all.

I am a parent of a 5th grade English speaker. I am very unhappy with the catering made to the spanish speakers at the school. Our GATE program is almost non-existant, as is a computer lab.

My daughter is a third grader at Mammoth Elementary. She tests high straight across the board, she is given more challenging work in math and reading, to keep her interested. The ski-PE program is amazing! My daughter gets to be on the school ski race team, she leaves school early 2 days a week and gets bused up to Mammoth Mt. to ski! Her only requirement is that her grades stay high, otherwise no skiing. Great incentive to keep up with homework. The ski program is affordable. There is as much parent involvement as parents wish to give. Whenever there is something going on, parents come out of the woodwork. My daughter lover so go to school each day, can't get better than that!

Great School. Amazing staff. PTO works very hard to provide enrichment classes for a very small fee ($3.00 to $5.00) or free for students after school.

School has good teachers and principal, however the 50% foreign speaking and growing reflects in the level of academic achivement with the future looking dim. Spanish speaking emersion classes are beginning this year at kinder level. I am a parent.
