My son has been at this school for 4 years now (2 years pre-K, 1 K, and now 1st). I can't begin to praise the wonderful teachers, parents, and all around environment enough. I'm somewhat of a "Tiger Mom" and have high expections of my son both academically and athletically. He has blossomed way beyond my expectations at this school. When he's at home, my husband and I enforce what he's learned in school, including manners and how to treat his friends (all the kids in school are called "friends.") The only negative is that this school is so popular that the classes are on the crowded side but the teachers do a great job of giving attention to all the students. I'm extremely happy with the foundation he has from this school.
My 5-year old learned reading and arithmetic in kindergarten at this school. The teachers impose firm but fair discipline and give the children a safe and fun place to learn. My only regret is that we took our daughter out for first grade to take advantage of the "excellent" Manhattan Beach schools. MB public schools are excellent as public schools go but they don't know how to deal with advanced learners the way Montessori does.
Love this school. Great, open, parent friendly atmosphere. Very responsive & caring staff, from owner on down. Very attuned to the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each child. Took my kid out of the other alleged 'Montessori' school in Manhattan Beach. This school is a breath of fresh air, top to bottom. Kids, parents, and staff are all happy here, and work together to provide a good, solid, well rounded education for the kids, both academic and social. We love it!
My son has really blossomed at this Montessori school, both intellectually and socially. I can't wait for his brother to start next year.
This school is outstanding & has provided an excellent prepatory education for both of our girls! The parents who complain the most did not even research what Maria Montessori created as a form of education for 2-4 year olds. All montessori schools are not created equal, & this Peck campus is famous for it's reputation. Many who work a lot and treat the school as a daycare only will get minimal results. Those that engage their teachers & emulate the phylosophies at home will have better results with the 'academics'. My eldest who attended through Kindregarten was more advanced in all subjects, ESP math & reading than her first grade peers at Mb public. She was also the youngest & we attribute her MSMB education to her success and moral values she has brought with her. If you do your research & want a Montessori Education, this is the best.
This is my daughter's second year, and I admit I had higher hopes for her accomplishments. The staff is nice, but there are no real academic expectations. We had previously thought about staying for the 5-7 program, but after discussing the class and their experience in it with some of those parents, we have changed our minds. For the money we pay, you would think you would get more than arts & crafts and holiday celebrations.
I think that this school is very organized and the principal is very smart
I've had a child in Pre-K for 3 years now. I thought her reading would be much better than it is now. Most teachers are wonderful. Some boast about things they are going to do and don't deliver. Computer usage is lacking. Too much emphasis on holidays crafts iso academics. Extracurricular activities and parent involvement exceptional.
We've had 2 children attending this school for four years. The faculty is wonderful, experienced, and stable, many of the teachers have been there 10 years +. The school offers, music, spanish, dance, yoga, tennis, TKD, and swimming during the summer! Parents can be very involved or not.. but must participate some. Excellent school.. I would highly recommend.. if you can get in.. they do have a waiting list !
My daughter who tends to be shy and hard to warm up has blossomed at this school, the teachers have accepted her for who she is, and she loves it there.
