Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is family orientated, they stand up against bullying. However, I feel mental illness and learning disabilities are pushed to the side.

We are very pleased with this school. Teachers are very attentive to student needs and with budget cuts still continue to provide an excellent education.

McParland had always been easy to communitcate with. The staff and the teachers have the childs best interest at heart and that means everything to me!

What a great year we had a school for the 2008-2009 school year. We have moved our daughter to several schools over the last few years and this one out ranks them all 'we' believe in Manteca. The programs setup for the children work well and Principal Borgeson really knows how to run this school! Thnanks to all the wonderful teachers for the great work!

I feel students grading students is fine. I don't think its about letting the teacher off the hook of correcting. If a student does very poorly and others make fun than that's more on the students personality's and I would hope they would know better! Maybe you could talk to your daughters teacher? One of the many things I love about McParland is the communication. I've never had a problem talking to the Principals or the teachers to resolve any issues I had. Good Luck! :)

I could not be more please with the Annex. I have one child who is in 1st grade. We have had a wonderful experience both years. I highly recommend Mrs. Smudrick (formerly Ms. Taff). She is compasionate about her students. She expects a lot from them yet the progress I have seen in my child's growth is just incredible. The staff is very attentive to the children and parents. Ms. Scholl is concerned about our children and their welfare. My child wakes up happy and ready to attend school. This reinforces the value of an education. If you are looking for a school that is strong in academics and a compasionate faculty...look no further than the Annex.

I have read other statments from the parents reviews that were negitive. These reviews seem to be focused on a singular problem. I have two children that have been at Mc Parland since kindergarden. One is now in the seventh grade and the other is in high school. Over the nine years that I have inteacted with the school, the teachers, staff, pricipal and even the janitor have had nothing on their minds except the wellfare and learning enviroment. They all are top notch and will be missed when my youngest child leaves there for high school in two years. They do believe in sports, the arts, and having fun but their first goal is to educate the children, as it should be. My deapest thanks goes to all of the staff at Mc Parland!

All of my children have attended this school. Teachers are really involved. With many of sports as well as extracurricular activites to be offered, you don't want to miss out. Children and their Parents are #1 to the staff. For children with special needs such as ESL, Special Ed etc., the staff ensures to treat all students with equality. Good Luck with your school search.

I feel the office staff could be more friendly and attentive to those coming and going. From one extreme, of showing your driver's license to the other of not noticing children leaving the premises without an adult (yes, this did happen). I wish the kids could be more active with music and other areas of art instead of always just focusing on test scores. I know this is IMPORTANT, but so is the arts. Overall, we are happy to be here. Great parents, and some really good teachers!

To anyone thinking about moving to this district with a small child - be warned: the school board doesn't care about your little one. They just raised the number of children in a kindergarten class to 32 students to one teacher for 100 minutes of the day (the rest of the 100 minutes has 17 kids to 1 teacher). The Board's comments in doing this was that 'some children had to get hurt' by budget cuts and that some kids would be left behind. The board did not even discuss the potential impact on the kids, and ignored kindergarten teachers statements that kids could not be effectively taught under these circumstances. This comment applies to all Manteca Unified School District schools - not just McParland! The Board felt it more appropriate to cut funding to kindergarten than to cut funding for extra-curricular activities such as JROTC. If they are capable of this type of cut, what else will they do to ruin the education of our smallest and most vulnerable students?
