Teachers are called by their first name. A fort bragg education is by all means the equivalent if not better for college preparation.

This is a small beautifully sited campus on a hill overlooking historical Mendocino Village and the ocean. The school is small, intimate and focused on community based learning and college prep. Mendocino historically have some of the highest SARC scores in the state. There is a full time band and chorus program for the district which serves 585 students K-12. Parent involvement is encouraged and parents raise funds for athletics, music and Alternative Education Week.

I graduated from MHS in 2001. My education far surpassed what my current college peers recieved. At MHS, we had an honor code, so no locks were put on lockers. We called our teahers by their first names. It wasn't cliquey, stuffy, or lax. It was rigorous, demanding, but supportive and fun. I couldn't have asked for a better public education.

Teachers are dedicated, and willing to offer more than just the basics. My daughter considers her several of her teachers friends. Sports, chorus, Model UN, community support and involvement, great kids, and more! We are proud of the education she us experiencing.

This is a unique school in that it is so accepting of differences, there are loads of things to do, and there is always a teacher nearby to get homework help from. The atmosphere is relaxed, most teachers are called by their first names, and the majority of the students have known each other since pre-school. We have a long history in our town, our school has been around for over 100 years. It's slowly disappearing though, with families moving out of the area because of housing costs, and logging and fishing leaving, enrollment is dwindling, and our school will disappear. It's sad but true, unless people start coming, we're going to vanish as anything but a lovely little tourist town.
