My children do not like this school, this school does not have a anti bully policy in place. if your child is bullied here they just say stop it and put the children on opposite sides of the playground.DONT WORK!!My children are miserabl;e at this school, the teachers they have are rude and do not interact with parents except once a year for a quick parent / teacher conference if thats what you wanna call it.Not very many school activities for kids either, barley any fundraisers. The principle Ms. Slaven is not very helpful either!!
we will really miss having last years principle he treated all the kids with respect and cherished each one of them. he was awesome... hopefully this year will still be good with a new principle and all.
My daughter attended this school for her second grade year and, although we weren't very pleased with her mostly absent teacher, we found the staff to be warm and approachable. The pricipal was very popular among the kids, and from the outside at least, it seemed as if the whole staff was focused on student success. I was also very pleased with Assets, the after school program.
I would say that this school is very good and compares favorably with other schools in the district. Both of my children are high achievers and have always been challenged by their teachers. The principal is somewhat new, but was formerly a teacher there and brings great enthusiasm and a love of children. The children in the school absolutely adore him. Wright also has one of the best afterschool programs in the district. I'm very involved in the school and would say that as long as you are an involved parent and pay attention to your child's education, they are bound to thrive. I think it is narrow minded to judge a school based on scores alone, especially when scores often only represent the socioeconomic level of its students.
This school is desperate need of improvement. It is in it's third year of being deemed as 'in need of improvement' by the Calif. Dept. of Edu. based on the AYP test scores. The principal is nice but lacks initiative to improve his school. Since it's a title 1 school, I am requesting a transfer out while my child is still young. I want my child to have a better opportunity than this school can offer. The grounds are also horrid and very often dirty especially in the restrooms.
