I agree with most posts that the school calendar is not friendly to those parents who work. Too many art projects, and the children are left with having to take their school work "home". Other classes there may not be enough work and parents will need to help their kids at "home". Notice lots of work to do at "home" and lots of breaks and minimum days. Facility is old. Outside of this the community of parents are great!
This is our second year at St. Dunstan and we are very pleased with the school and our child performance. Though there are many minimum days and breaks, but with advance planning we got through them fine. Also there is after school care for every school days, even on the minimum days. Academically and socially, I feel that my child is being guided in the right direction. Spanish is started since Kindergarten. It would be over the top if they can incorporate Mandarin in their curriculum.
This is probably the greatest school to be built. Yes, the calendar is a bit on the edge, but other than that, its a wonderful school. They teach you all the subjects you need to know, Math, English, Spanish,Reading,Religion,Science, Computers, Physical Education, and Music. They have all sorts of clubs you could join and sports that will make your child actually smile. The staff is very kind and helpful. They have very fun field trips, like today, my child went to BlackBerry Farms and said it was the best day of her life. I would never want to move my child to any other school, like Taylor. I would sugest this school to anyone who wants their child to have a good education.
Saint Dunstans is wonderful. We've been there for two years and love the small community feel. We feel as if we are part of a very stong family. My children are learning spanish, music (piano), p.e, chess. and so much more. We're adding art in action! Our day care is fabulous and affordable. Our tuition is also very afordable. Our principal is THE BEST! Can you tell i love the school! I dont mind the minimum days. After all they go to school from 8:00 to 3:00 a.m. they deserve a min day from time to time.
Academically speaking, this school is doing a great job. There is a good balance between academic work and sports. I, however, agree with the first review - that the school calendar is not friendly to working parents. Way too many minimum days - in the month of October school actually cancel after school care due to events. This is a nightmare for all working parents.
School is ok but the school calendar is not friendly to working parents.
St. Dunstan Parish School is a great school for every child that wants to participate in sports, especially Track and Field because St. Dunstan has been the #1 Track and Field team for the past 3 years now (thanx to their coach). In other areas of the school, SD has all in all a good reputation.
