Grateful to: Teacher

Mrs. LeSueur celebrates each student's unique qualities that make them special and it then encourages them to work hard. The student's genuinely care for each other and that is because the teacher cares too. Mrs. Maclean is an enthusiastic and thoughtful teacher that challenges her students to reach their highest potential. Extra time is given to any student who needs it and she celebrates accomplishments no matter how small. She brings such creative lessons to her students they love to be in class.

The teachers are amazing. They are always looking at new ways to incorporate learning strategies and create a fun, engaging classroom. They also work as a grade level team to share ideas and develop a program that all students in the grade level cover the same things.

This school cares about its students. The staff and teachers work closely together to provide a nurturing, engaging and academically exciting school. The teachers love teaching and using different mediums and processes to explore topics that promote learning. The teachers love teaching and the students love learning. There is a sense of family when at school and it means something special to be a Cordillera Cougar. They have really added lots of new technology to school and have every grade level uses not only the computer lab but the technology carts. The PTO is amazing and they care about making sure the students have enrichment programs the school district doesn't fund anymore.

Students are encouraged to learn in many different ways and their accomplishments are recognized. There is a wall of writing in the office and every grade level is represented. Their work is submitted by the teacher and then they read it to the principal and she takes their picture. Anyone can come and read their work. It makes the kids very proud to see their work displayed.

Because you see students helping one another. Different grade levels have buddy classes and they do special things together. It helps create that sense of community among students.

They have a wonderful program called PAWS that teaches students about being honest, caring, thoughtful and good citizens. It is incorporated everywhere so all the staff, teachers, and students know what it means. When you are caught doing well, you get a PAWS ticket that goes into a weekly drawing. It is used in the classroom, on the playground and during assemblies and field trips. It is a great motivator to do well.

Cordillera is a fantastic school. The staff, teachers and principal all work closely together to create a fun rigorous learning environment. The students are challenged and happy. There are lots of fun activities like spirit days, all-school events and Friday morning PAWS assemblies. The parents are dedicated to the school and volunteer many hours in support of its programs such as Meet the Masters Art, Class Act Pacific Symphony Program, and raising funds for technology. Any student will be blessed to go to this top-notch community school!!

Best Elentary School in Mission Viejo, my 6 year old son can read perfectly, and understands the meaning of a least 90% of the sentences in the book!
