School lacks rigorous academic, extra curricular activities, and fine arts programs that challenge students. I would like to see the school cater to talented and motivated students. The focus of school appears to be meeting statewide expectations rather than preparing students to be competitive and high achieving students throughout their educational years.

Wilcox Elementary is a great school. My child has developed and learned so much at this school. The teachers and staff are great and very helpful. The school grounds are always clean and well taken care of.

My child is in kindergarten presently. She has learned adding/subtracting single digits, can write a sentence, and count to 120. I don't have any type of comparison data. Music, sports, are not offered, as I wish they would be . Parent involvement is very good. They're are monthly meetings that generate vere good information for parents.

I have had two of my children go through Wilcox. I have been very pleased with the overall education they received. Obvioulsy there are going to be those individual incidents that one can focus on in any institution that need improvement. The true picture of this school is that it is about children. My eldest son was very successful in both middle school and high school thanks in part to the quality instruction he received at Wilcox. He is now preparing to enter a prestigous university. My younger son has done well in middle school and is preparing to enter high school. The foundation he received at Wilcox is very much a part of his current success and I have been told this by his current teachers. The teachers and administrators for the most part were engaging, challenging, supportive and perhaps most importantly nurturing and humanistic. I strongly recommend this school.

I don't see academic programs available. When I was in elementary school twenty-something years ago, we had reading olympics and were given medals and certificates for most books read. That's how we were encouraged to read. Also, exercise was very important, we had big red balls to play four square, dodge ball, hand ball. Jump ropes available, even the black tops had hop-scotch games painted on them. Here at Wilcox, I see none of these offered. I see no art programs or even music programs. What happened to the funding? I wish someone would explain this to us parents. This schools has the money to build more classrooms but not buy jump ropes for the kids? I understand why kids now a days are obese, and bored. Parents need to do their part, and so do the schools.
