I have been to many different schools, and by far San Carlos is the best. I have experience with the middle school program in particular, and it is wonderful. Most of the teachers are supportive and intelligent. However, some teachers in particular get on my nerves and I cannot honestly understand why they are working there. The other thing is that Mrs. Bennet(the principle) seems to treat the older students the same as the younger one. She has a lot of useless and offensive rules to the older children, as if she doesn't trust them to be in a classroom alone. I had no problem what so ever with the homework. It is incredibly minimal in comparison to what some reviews say, But then again, not everyone is as competent as the child I knew. Everyone at the school is very welcoming and the students are intelligent, for the most part. Also, the 8th grade goes to Washington DC over spring break, and I think that is a wonderful opportunity. Faith is a big part of the school and all faiths are very welcomed. Personally, I thought Mr. Krislyn was the best teacher in the middle school program , as he was charismatic and very interesting to talk to.

San Carlos School provides a safe environment among generally well-behaved and respectful children. Education is adequate, but with an emphasis more on busywork than on real academic advancement. Expect your child to start with 1-2 hours of homework in Kindergarten, advancing to several hours of homework by the end of Middle School. However, also expect your child to have to catch up with his classmates in a some subject areas after San Carlos, arriving at the next school (even public). Teacher education levels and ability to educate children vary wildly from excellent to miserable. Parental involvement is a definite requirement, which is easier to fill if one parent does not work, but the requirements are manageable, even if only one parent puts in the time. As a non-profit, and to keep tuition costs down, there is constant fundraising and raffling, but this also provides opportunities to fulfill parental volunteer hour requirements.

San Carlos is a fantastic school. After reviewing several schools in the area, we decided on San Carlos. We have been very happy here. As soon as you step onto the school grounds, you get a sense of belonging. Everyone is like family. The children are challenged not only in the classroom but also at home by the amount of homework they are given. My daughter really loves the school, her classmates, and her teachers, as do I.

We lost a wonderful 3rd teacher. Mrs. Paris prepared our son very well. She was the best teacher.

This is our third and last year at San Carlos before the military move. Our new third grade teacher is outstanding as are the other teachers. Our daughter has learned so much and enjoyed this year tremendously. We will certainly miss San Carlos teachers, the principal, music teacher, Spanish teacher and the wonderful parents/friends we have made.

To rate or say anything of San Carlos is what makes a wonderful school. The choice of schools for my two kids have been San Carlos. Previously both of my kids attended elementary schools in North Monterey County. The level of student, parent and teacher participation is unequal. Every child at the school is ensured they will get the best education and every child is expected to do their best. There is real PE and not just sitting around or a teacher trying to do PE, when they do not have the background. The ability for every child to participate in after school events is unequal. My children now understand it takes a little work and organization to pass school and know it. My kids saw and one tried just to get by without do the work and he did in the previous school.

My son began attending San Carlos for K and is now in First grade. He loves to learn about religion and enjoys the morning prayer the school recites during morning assembly. I feel he is in a safe enviroment and I have not witnessed any bullying or aggressive behavior between any students grades k thru 8. I appreciate the quick and sincere attention given by Mrs. Bennet to matters that are of concern regarding my child. However I must agree, there is a large amount of homework. We start on homework once we get home at 3:30, and usually dont finish until 5, 5:30. He has no time for other activities. I will keep him at San Carlos for thecoming school year. for 2nd grade

As a current parent of two students, I LOVE San Carlos. Yes there is quite a bit of volunteerism, but that's what makes this school so great. I can see what my kids are learning and doing throught the day. I appreciate the homework. Kuddos to Mrs. Bennet. My kids have been in several Catholic schools, and she is by far the BEST principal I have seen and the best school in the area. We are sad to leave this school as the military will take us to another city.

I have been attending San Carlos School for 10 years! I can't really compare it to another school but from talking to friends from public schools I'm glad I attend it. Although San Carlos has music it is not luring older students to participate. San Carlos should have music and theater in their academics. I'm glad San Carlos decided to have Honor Roll to recognize students. In my opinion Ms. Perry is the best teacher because of her fun class activities like performing Skakespear and learning many things. Pretty much I like this school and will miss it when I leave. Go RAMS we've done so good!
