The award-winning Alta Vista High School provides challenges and successes, nurturing and caring. The 'whole student' is educated, with non-academic needs being taken care of as well as academic. Each member of the staff has chosen to work there, and the dedication to the students is second to none.

The work my child was given here was appropriate to her needs only in math. Little evidence was seen of individualized instruction beneficial to alternative students. Counseling services were inadequate. Second language students were not given the attention they need to truly achieve their potential, and the expectations for them were low. The average length of service for teachers is perhaps a telling point -- younger blood may be needed. The staff is friendly.
