My Son was accepted at this school on open enrollment and attended K-5. We had moved out of the area, a couple of times during his time there and were very lucky to have been able to keep in the same school. I absolutely loved the individual attention that the kids received from the staff of this school and the parent club was the best that I had ever been aware of. I am extremely proud that my son was a Brown's Valley Bear!

We are new to BVES this year and I couldn't be more pleased. We came from a very small charter school in another community and I was afraid my kids would get lost in the crowd at such a large school, but that has not been the case. The principal took time out of his summer to take us on a tour of the school and personally welcome my kids. My 5th grader has some learning difficulties, but does not qualify for special ed. At this school the teacher and principal took our concerns seriously and reacted immediately with a plan to help him be successful. My 2nd grader is a little ahead and her teacher monitors her work each week and if she feels she has mastered what the class is working she gives her something more difficult. Both kids are getting this specialized work without feeling singled out or stigmatized. As a new parent I have felt welcomed by the BV Family Club members as I volunteer at various events. As a working mom they respect my time limitations and help me find ways I can help! Amazing school! So glad to be here!

I love this school. I actually went to this school in the 1970's and I am so pleased that my two children are here now. We have had all great teachers, the new principal (since 2008) is stong, caring, involved, creative and pro-active. The school has both gifted programs and outreach programs for children to prevent them from falling thru the cracks. You don't have to be a squeaky wheel here, they call you! It is true that Public schools in California are getting more crowded, including Napa's elementary schools. One nice thing about BVS is the HIGH level of parent involvement so the teachers have lots of help in the classroom. The BV family club is also very active, raising money for enrighment courses, field trips, a new multi purpose room and library books.

I disagree with the Dec. 2009 comment.. all schools in CA are now being over crowded however this school doesn't feel that way. There are 33 kids in the 4th and 5th grade classes and that is throughout the entire school district. The principal is on his 2nd year and he is here to stay I am sure. The teachers are awesome at teaching and the test scores reflect that. It is a great place to be if you want a good education for your kids and an environment where the parents are very involved.

This school is now over crowded with upper elementary grades (33 kids in my child's class!) The teachers are overworked, frustrated, and sometimes rude. The school also went through 4 principals since 2004-5. I feel there is poor oversight of children during lunch by voluteer staff, giving way to caddiness and fights, though without bodily harm. This school lives off past glory.
