Phillips Charter School operates grades K-6. Parents have to option of keeping their children at Phillips for 6th grade or sending them to middle school. Phillips offers technology, music and physical education because of its charter status. This is a school with young, innovative teachers. It is a campus that cares.

I may be biased because I work at Phillips (4 years) , but I feel that this school is the best school in the district. We have the most up to date technology with a full time technology assistant. We have two full time PE coaches and two full time music teachers!!! We were one of the first schools in the district to practice Board Math, and Board Language, which in turn raised test scores. We have leveled reading, and leveled ELD classes (English Language Development) to support all. We offer several after school activities such as Orff Ensemble, Concert Band, Choir, Girls on the Run, Geek Squad, PowerPoint Club, and After School Adventures. We have the best principal and vice principal anyone could've asked for (last year was their first year) who care about the staff and the students! That is rare! I never want to work elsewhere!

My children have been attending Phillips for the past six years, and I love this school. The teachers are hard-working, and the school offers so many more things than other schools in the district. The day is longer, they have elective classes, awesome technology, and many extra-curricular activites. The students wear a uniform, and this is great! The school is diverse, and they are improving in parent involvement by holding community nights.

Phillips is a great school, offering children more activities than the traditional schools in the Napa district. Structured activities include: Physical Education, Reading, Science, Music, Drama & others. Parent participation and school to family communication could be improved, but overall it is working well for our family. For children to excel, parents need to be their primary role models followed by the teacher. Also maintaining a positive & consistent relationship with the childs' teacher is a sure for their success. It's often easier to blame a school/teacher for our children's educational downfall, but let's look at ourselves first.

Since it has become a charter school, it has gone down hill. However this school provides activites, such as the choir, and afterschool programs which is very useful along with other fun activites, on the other hand, the teachers are not involved with the parents. They tend to hold students to very low standards. Alot of bulling and teasing goes on, and the faculty does not do anything about it. The parent club is a joke. My daughter is a very good student and helps other kids in the class, but when she came to school with purple hair, they wanted to deny her an education based on the color of her hair, which does not affect her learning and is a clear violation of privacy protected by the consitution. sshe had been to other schools in napa and the teachers welcomed individuality and creativity, at this school natzi comformaty is forced.

I have two sons who have attended Phillips - one is academically proficient, the other has difficulties with reading and comprehension. For the past three years I have requested help..nothing. Safety is a joke. Dee McFarlane was the best principal the school ever had, since her departure the school has plummetted in every area.
