I love Silverado, because the teachers are nice, the administration is willing to go all out for the students, the students know that they have a chance to learn and enjoy the process and the parents are very involved in their children's education.
My child loved his experience at SMS. Teachers were highly trained, caring professionals. I would have liked to have seen more of the arts taught (only one art and one drama class), but under No Child Left Behind, everyone suffers in this respect.
This school did a great job of educating my child. Besides the strong academics, she was involved in extra curricular activities like volleyball, track, and choir and learned so much from all of her experiences at Silverado. Most importantly, the school fostered a strong sense of self-responsibility in my child. The federal AYP expectation is ridiculous! Kudos tho the administration and teachers for the great job they do educating everyone from English Learners to GATE!
I liked how my child could e-mail her homework to his teachers and look on many of their web pages for homework assignments. E-mail is the key for parents and students. High marks!
Silverado has too many students for a good teacher/student ratio. They have failed the AYP the past 2 years and I'm transferring my child to another school by the end of the month.
Overall a suburb school. I sent my three children to Silverado and each year seemed to get better.
I have two children in Silverado, they have had two great years and they could not wait to go back for their third and last year. The teachers are great, both kids have excelled and been on the honor roll, they were also in the music program for both years and really enjoyed it. Happy Parents of Silverado
The music program is outstanding.
I have found the quality of the teachers to ge good. They care about the students as a whole person and strive to educate the whole person. I find the administration to be a bit lacking in terms of ability and energy. They sometimes are more concerned with 'office politics' than the students. In my opinion this school does not offer enough extracurricular activities, especiall since the 6th grade was added to the student population. Over all the education of the students is adequate.
I am sure if we checked that parent's child there would be more to the story than the school. I think the staff is wonderful and would not trade this school for the world!
