I am a current JS student and just want to tell everyone to please consider not going to Justin, the school has gone completely down-hill since I was a freshmen and I cannot stand the way things are being run. Instead of hiring a new dean who has studied education, they hired a theology major as the head of curriculum, the school is religiously intolerant (I am not Catholic) and the students have absolutely no say. It is possible to get as good or even better of an education at another school, especially one that does not require four years of religions class, three to four of which are exclusively Catholic classes. Justin has also raised tuition while not improving anything for students other than small architectural designs that are only for publicity. The school is also planning to tear out the two softball fields and put in a full sized Lowes, which will not be an appropriate environment for students. I loved Justin when I came here as a freshman, but I can no longer condone their actions as a school and administrative body.
The percentage of students U.C. eligible after graduation from the Class of 2009, has been reported to be 98%. My 2009/10 sophomore son is in his 2nd year at Justin-Siena. This Catholic High School has exceeded my expectations. Justin-Siena places an emphasis on, 'Enter to learn, leave to serve.' I have been very pleased.
From an college preparatory perspective this school delivers! I graduated in the 1970's and because of my experience, sent my children. My kids tell me that they were well prepared for their college courses by way of their high school instructors and the high educational standards, which gave them a great deal of confidence as college freshmen. They both were top performers in high school and now are standouts in their respective colleges. The relatively small enrollment at the school and Christian mission made the experience a memorable one. It was a financial commitment, but well worth it and I would do it all over again.
I am currently a student at Justin-Siena High Schol in Napa and so far my experience here has been nothing but amazing! Eventhough I have only attended Justin-Siena for 2 school years I feel I have grown not only socially but also academically and spiritually. The small school size allows for smaller class sizes which leads to more one on one participation with the teachers. Also, there are many extracurricular oppurtunities for students, and for the most part, if you want to participate you can. At Justin Siena almost all of our student body participates in some sort of extra-curricular activity at sometime throughout the school year. As for the academics at Justin-Siena, they are also amazing. In my classes, I am not simply a name my teachers pass or fail, they actually care and want me to succeed.
I am the parent of two male graduates, one still in college, one now out. The most recent principal is now leaving, which will help the school improve. Great teachers really care about the kids, and when my boys were there, an awesome drama program. Due to the area, parent body is pretty high income, but we were middle class on a scholarship and still felt comfortable. I believe my sons got a great education, and they are very vocal about how much better they were prepared for college than the kids they met when they entered college. The school also draws from a large geographic area, but has bus transportation from Sonoma, the upper Napa Valley and Fairfield/Vacaville area. Fair amount of military kids from Travis AFB. Good religion program without being agressively Catholic. Safe environment, new library. A great school all in all.
I go to school here and I absoultly love it. All the sports are open to all grades and most have jv and varsity teams some even have frosh teams. We have great academics and its a very safe school to send your student to. You dont have to be religous to see the value in this school. Its very safe and has somethign for everyone. I strongly recommend this school over all the public ones. It has no gang activity and no violence. Its simply wonderful.
School needs better sports program for freshman and sophomores.
