Grizzly Hill is a good school, struggling to be great. The staff and teachers are all talented and trying hard, the problems are mostly in the community and parents. Most of the parents in the area who care about their kids education are driving them into town to the charter schools, leaving Grizzly Hill with only a handful of parents who are actively involved in the school. We have small class sizes and competent, caring teachers as well as a dynamic new sup/princ. We also have a very high percentage of kids with learning difficulties and emotional problems, probably from a lack of attention at home. The ridge is a difficult community and that is reflected in the school and it's low test scores. However it is entirely possible to get a great education here and if more of the parents and community were envolved it would be even better.
My son loves Grizzly Hill! He is in second grade and has been there for almost two years. He excels academically, loves school and his peers! He has received so much love and care from his teachers and the school staff. We are very grateful!
