Underfunded and poorly led. The teachers are simply worker bees being paid--$7k/mo, 12 mo/yr. The student body is primarily poor and Hispanic and the parents unconcerned and uninvolved. Any slight infraction will see your child handed over the school psychologist--a young guy barely out of his teens. The facility itself is run down and largely unsecured. If your child is male, expect him to be drugged for simply being male. The teachers are almost entirely female, with predictable consequences for boys. The entire student body is indoctrinated with cultural Marxism, AKA political correctness. The principle is an elitist hamster from Harvard University. The Snow school demographic is perfect for someone like her use your children as guinea pigs in her progressive experiment.
I have never heard of a school that bans beanies and gloves. Is my son supposed to freeze in the winter?! Also no kids are allowed to take backpacks. My son dislikes this school. I'm for sure not sending him here next year. We didn't even want to go here this year. He was pushed out of one school to this one.
My son has attended Snow School since Kindergarten and he is now in the 4th grade. He is getting an excellent knowledge base including good social skills and emotional support. I will caution parents that at least one-third of the work is done at home. From the first grade on the homework and reading are sent home and a great deal of emphasis is on home study. Although my son can throw quite a little tantrum when his fun is interrupted he is developing good study habits and seeing the results in excellent grades. If you have the chance, this is the best school in the district. Nice kids, involved parents and a great staff.
I believe that Snow school has the best teachers. My older son is in 6th grade, my younger one is in 4th and we have liked all of thier teachers, they are caring and they have great methods to get the children to care about school. The parents are actively involved in all areas like parties, field-trips and classroom activities.
