Conejo Valley High (Continuation) School

I am a resident of the nearby Continuation school and I need to set the story straight that these kids that attend this school are the low lives of society and do not know the basic concept of civil law and why you don't walk out in front of cars.

Originally I moved from washington & was forced to go to CVHS due to behind credits, however after attending the school for a couple months I grew to love the school. I felt like I wasnt always being pressured. The enviroment is very relaxed and at the students own pace. I really enjoyed that even though we were a smaller school the staff still let us cooperate in many activities like any other school. More importantly I loved the staff the most! The teachers were great they were always there for their students as well got know each individual student. They took the time to let us know we were important and could do anything we set our minds to. Most of the teachers probably could be making more money at a regular high school but they choose to be staffed at conejo because they want to help. While attending CVHS I felt like the teachers werent there everyday because that was there income I felt like its because they wanted to be there to help. I really want to say thanks to all the staff for letting me enjoy three years at conejo and motivating me to do more with my life, also would like to say thanks to thousand oaks teen center who would visit weekly and hangout with the students and for all their charity. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME..

I think the high school is a very loveing school and caring one . The teachers might not be perfect, but who is. NPAA is a great school for kids to express themselves. They also have teachers and staff members that love the kids and want them to do their best. The school makes you feel like home and when your sad or something is bothering you, you knw you can go and talk to one of the teachers.

i attended this school for two and a half years. the main advantage from this curriculum is that it teaches self dicipline. not as much teacher involvement was how my mind worked. i was able to be creative and carve my own way. thank your for everything

What other school in the area has a teacher that would go out & throw the football to one student on his first day at that school? That was to get to know him & make him comfortable. He's not just a number here.

CVHS is an outstanding alternative high school. The opportunities for enrichment, co-curricular activities and the rapport between staff and students are unparalleled. However, Just as with any educational institution, a student must apply themselves to excel. The school presents a zero tolerance campus to ensure safety and every staff member works to help each student succeed. Any negative reviews are most likely from a student or parent of one that refused to utilize what was offered them there.

This school is awful... I was a student there for one year in 2003 and I can tell anyone from firsthand experience that many school officials at Conejo do not care about students, especially their education. Mr. Kenobi or whatever his name was pretty real... he let the students know what would happen if they kept blowing off school and other of society's norms. It seems like the teachers would rather look the other way... If you have a child at this school... two words: transfer immediately. Peace

Being a former student of Conejo, I'd have to say that everything said is pretty much wrong. Because of this school I graduated TWO years early. Conejo gave me an opportunity to finish high school when I wouldn't have been able to at a regular high school. This school does have sports activities, they even compete against other schools. There are extracurricular activities you can join if you choose, such as being staff for the yearbook or monthly school paper. It is all up to the student to work though. Teachers do make you do at least one assignment a day, if you do not they will put you on a contract. If you don't follow the contract you are kicked out of the class for 30 days. I personally think Conejo Valley High school is one of the most amazing opportunity for struggling students.

I would like to state that this school has a solid history of showing no parent-child involvement. Hmmm Why do you suppose these poor kids are here in the first place? I know for a fact these teachers do more counseling than they are required to do. These are children being sent to a continuation school likely as a result of (mostly) poor parenting. This results in a low chance of them thriving and moving onto higher learning. There certainly are teachers at this school that are dedicated to the enrichment of students, and work hard to let these kids express themselves, but most of the children do not have the skills to ask for the help they need in order to fulfill that portion of their lives. The counseling in this school can be great for the kids. If they have the confidence to ask, they can get the right advice: from getting the curriculum they need to excel, to some preparation for college, and some personal needs met. However, if there is no encouragement of learning, or learning curve from home, how would they know what steps to take? This school does not have the normal HS goodies, such as a sports department, or extra curricular activities. This is a continuation school and education is very generic. I imagine there is a lot of frustration on the teachers end. Kids that go to this school have major discipline problems, so they have a hard time functioning in a normal school setting. Without any structure at home and lack of academic desire, how could you expect your child to come into his/her own ?
