It is a wonderful place with wonderful people who volunteer like crazy to make the world a way better place...and it always has been. They teach us tolerance and stress kindness to others. They provide sources for every kind of help. It is a safe and proud place.

The school is awesome. The kids have every sport or outside activity you can think of to choose from, they are all encouraged to be active in a sport, the students are very proud to be part of the school and the awards in sports, theater, academic events, music, choir, etc. are numerous. Every special needs child is attended to. The guidance counselors are all fantastic. The teachers love it there and the students love the teachers, the administration is wonderful and the parents are all on board and finally last time I looked I believe something like 98% of the kids graduating go on to college, last year CDM rated 168th in the nation. We love CDM.

Too many 'mean' teachers with no humanity and I must apologize to those handful of wonderful teachers. But when you use your 'power' to 'disempower' children you should be ashamed.

One of the best qualities of this school is it's teachers. My husband and I, along with our new middle schooler, have spent countless hours talking, visiting, and developing a plan of action to keep our daughter on top of her schoolwork since September. We shake our heads when we realize how tough their job is...and only people who really care about our kids..would stick this career out. There is never anything easy about the real world.....but my daughter is learning some valuable lessons that we can talk about now.....before that time comes when she heads off to college.

CDMHS is a good school operating under the constraints imposed by an aged facility that has not been properly maintained; too little field space to properly accommodate the sports and a smattering of teachers who have been there too long to really care any longer about their students. The leadership there I think is very good and committed. While CDM suffers from the pecking order and status issues with all high schools, the students I have encountered are universally pleasant and well spoken. The academic culture in the school is somewhat split with a number of real 'strivers' working very hard and lots of kids doing what it requires to get through the program. It is not a school that will hand hold a student into performance.

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
