Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

There are many good teachers at our school, however this years Science Fair was a great disappointment. I viewed several posters that did not look like students put any effort into what was required. It was poor planning to schedule a school Roller Skating night at the same time. What were they thinking? It is more important to support school projects and set priorities higher for the students who turned in below standard work. Disappointed Parents

It is a private school education wrapped in a public school. It has talented, committed, motivated leadership and teachers, the best technology for education, and a close community of involved parents. It is also known as "healthy heights" in regards to life style. I have had two high scoring children obtain their education at this school, and I could not be happier.

Dr. Suhr, the principal, is an excellent leader and guide for the faculty, which is top-notch. And parent involvement at our school is unmatched. Newport Heights Elementary is arguable THE best school in the country, private schools included.

I love Newport Heights because ever since I had been a student there in the 1970's, it has always had a strong community pride about it and the parents and teachers were, and still are, a very helpful, highly qualified and a caring community for the students as a whole. I enjoy being a part of Team Newport Heights led by Dr. Suhr and definitely have a lot of shark pride!

Newport Heights is the 'brightest' place to be! Not only in terms of the education that takes place, the commitment of the teachers and students, and our test scores, but also in it's warm and safe environment! Shark Pride!

We have the most amazing Principal and Teachers! Our Principal knows every students most every parents names. He is involved ain all other program meetings, ex. Foundation and PTA.Mr Suhr became Dr. Suhr to extend hiss knowledge and experience for our school. I have been running the school fundraiser for the past 4 yrs with a 1 yr break. We raise over $100,000 basd on what Dr Suhr feel is necessary for our school. Our state test scores have grown leaps and bounds over the past 5 yrs! We have a very diverse group of family and students at our school, which is beneficial for all! We have a VERY active PTA with many fun and educational programs! I have 3 children and 1 being a special needs child, I could pick a better place for my children to learn and grow!

Our school totally rocks! I went to Newport Heights when I was young, both of my kids went through Newport Heights, and now I work there! My 5th grade teacher is still there an one of the favorites now just like when I was young! Newport Heights is not only the best school around for students, but the staff is awesome, like one big family!! We have so many great programs for the students and our teachers are truely some of the best in the district! I can honestly say that I love Newport Heights!

The 'new' principal is wonderful. I love the manner in which every morning he greets the parents and children as they go to school. The technology is outstanding. I have really lucked out by having excellent teachers. My son has attended for two years, and I am proud to have my daughter attend. My son is athletic, yet he won a math/science program this summer. His teacher encouraged his interest as he is strong in this area. Everyone I know loves this school.

I feel fortunate to have my child at this school. The previous comments don't apply, in my opinion, anymore. We have an excellent new principal and incredible parent involvement. I feel as though each year will only get better. With two more children entering this school in the next couple of years, that sets my mind at ease.

I have three children and my oldest seems to be getting the raw end of the stick out of three attempts for teachers K-2, he has had two teachers that just didn't care. They do their routine and then send them home. I have started looking elsewhere for my children.

My child has been enrolled at this school since he started as a Kindergartener -- he is now almost finished with third grade. The lower grade teachers have been wonderful in challenging young minds and providing a secure enviroment in which to learn. The teacgers are available for parents and are open and honest when discussing your child's performance. The principal is very hands on and makes himself available for students and parents alike.

Newport Heights has very dedicated parents that work together to provide a multitude of activities that solidify a child's feeling of belonging to the school community. I have had many conversations with parents about Newport Heights and have only heard positive comments about the teaching staff.

The school is not honest with the parents: telling us that the principle was moving on to finish her schooling mid-year, rather than telling us honestly that she was fired.
