My daughter has been at Monlux since Kindergarden. She is in the fourth garde magnet program for math, science, and technology. She loves it! She is challenged, and excited about the projects. She loves the science teachers.
Getting better and better. There are more technology oriented programs being implemented. Parents need to remember that this is a (free)public school, and that their involvement is VITAL to it's continued success. It's NOT a drop-off zone where teachers raise your unruly children! teach them manners, and show them they are WORTH the extra effort by volunteering at the school(they'll also be less likely to act out if you're there on a regular basis). We need MORE parents to help out.
Monlux is NOT a good school. Parking is impossible in the morning and a lot of parents will fight/ curse you for a parking. Principal is not involved at all. She does not take time to get to know the families. Most of the teachers are there because they have to me there and are not genuinely concerned with the students. At one time, a concern was brought to the attention of one of the teachers, behind your back she commented that you are wasting her precious time. Students does NOT have a place to do their homework in the afternoon. You have to do your homework under the heat of the sun on warm days and if it's raining, you get to go inside the room finally but it's lights out and loud DVDs, so if you want to do your homework, you either rely on the small door opening or you do not do your homework at all. Lastly, if you have encountered a problem, you almost cannot talk to the principal as the reason is she's busy and if you left a message to call back, you will never hear from her. The bridge coordinator will handle the problem by giving you a very general response so you will settle down and forget about everything. The students aren't as nice either.
I came from the Magnet Program and I would not recommend this school especially if you are not tough. The teachers yelled at the students most of the time or they benched you ( meaning no recess or lunch ) as they think this is the only way to make unruly students listen, so if you are one of the better students, I feel bad for you as you also get the same punishment. I agree with one of the reviews - each year gets worst and worst. Thank God I'm out of the school. The staff including the principal, they are not concerned at all. There are also a mountain of homework for you to do each day because the teachers are not utilizing the time wisely in school.
My son is in the magnet program and it is an education focused program which makes us glad that we switched from another school for 3rd grade. He is a 5th grader now and I think this program has gotten him ready for the workload that will come with middle school.
PAST 2-3 YEARS SCHOOL BECAMING WORST AND WORST. COULD BE PRINCIPAL OR/AND MANAGMANT CHANGES IN THE SCHOOL.
i am glad that my son is a student of monlux school ,,,,,very good and great stuff,,,,love principal ,,,dear principal you are great ,,,,,please teach couple of teachers how to be like you great teacher and great person ,,,thank you
I love the Magnet program at this school! The teachers are amazing, the Principal is committed, the Magnet Coordinator is inspiring, and the PTA President really wants to get things done to improve the school. I'm so glad we transfered here, and I look forward to volunteering both for the school and for PTA projects. They have welcomed us warmly, and I am happy that my child has been given the chance to attend a school with so much promise.
My 6 year old is really doing quite well in First Grade, and I feel that the curriculum is challenging. Both the teachers, Staff and Parents seem to care of these kids, and I an hoping that this continues through to 5th grade. The Kinder staff was also quite excellent
Excellent school! very success oriented, it keeps the students wanting to thrive forward this school has no excuses for students not doing their work. Its an amazing school.
I was a grant high school tutor, for a 5th grade class. The staff and students were both wonderful. The are hard working and dedicated to the overall success of the school. I give this school a 5/5 for its Amazing work and achievement.
This is a great school with great teachers and staff. They all work together as a team .
Monlux is a fine school with great teachers. The Newer Principal who transferred from Coldwater Canyon last year is not very attentative to the parents and school teachers needs.
i think the students of monlux have a excellent achivement from my point of view if we keep tring we are going to achive success.
I think this is the best elemantry school, my 3 children went there. They loved their teachers, they also went from c's to A's
We transferred from a private school and have been blessed with wonderful teachers and an administration that is interested in providing the best possible educational experience for the students. Monlux has been a great school for both my children, and is preparing my oldest for middle shool. Keep up the great work!
This is truly a California Distinguished School. Its passionate teachers and staffs work together to provide a program that helps each student succeed!
High quality academic program. Dedicated teachers that want parent involvement.
