Castlebay Lane is an excellent school. The staff is extremely helpful and organized. Last year my daughter was in Mrs. Ashcrafts class and we just loved her! She has so much to offer to the students and has alot of energy! My daughter learned alot and had fun while she learned. She came home every day with a huge smile and told me how much she loved Mrs. Ashcraft.

I have heard numerous postive comments from other parents regarding the quality of education and excellent teachers before my child started this year at Castlebay. The size of the school is overwhelming but I am very impressed with the quality of education and are happy we made the decision to give public school a chance. Ms. Cipriano is an excellent teacher and is really making a difference in my son's development.

Nancy braun is the best teacher at castlebay, the hard part is getting into her much demanded classes. Mrs. Braun is dedicated, smart, advance thinking and loving to her kids. She spends an great deal of her own money on classroom ehancements, and works overtime regularly. She is the prize of castlebay if not all of lausd!

Excellent school - my son transferred here in the 3rd grade from another magnet school and thrived. Miss Jung, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Cardenas - outstanding teachers who excel in all subjects. They are creative, patient, and committed to learning. Miss Jung gets her students more than ready for middle school. Contrary to what another parent wrote, I see a real community here. Cultural differences aside, Asian non-Asian families came together to make the school the success that it is. We will miss this school.

My child just finished 4th grade and she had the most intellectual growing experience in Ms. Harvey's Class. I am so blessed to be in a school that has such dedicated teachers and staff like Ms. Harvey and Mr. Norris. Castlebay will be sorely missed next year.

The school academically is very challenging. Some teachers are better than others. In 2006, the school obtained a new principal. She is very nice and friendly to the kids, however she needs to be firmer with her teaching staff in order to continue the good academic standing within the community and the state.

I highly recommend this school. I have had two kids in this school and overall, I've had very good experience with the teaching staff. Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Edelson, Mrs. Fernandez, and Dr. Fields provide excellent, high-quality, and non-judgemental teaching methods.

Excellent staff and supportive parents. The instructional program is standards based and student centered. Test scores are high, but an appropriate balance exists between providing a well rounded education to students and preparing them to achieve academically. As educators, my wife and I are extremely pleased with the education our daughters are receiving at Castlebay.

This school is amazing! There is so much Parent involvement thats what makes this school what it is. all extra activities such as music, art and computers are all paid for by path from funds raised by parents. It is def. an excellent school . Teachers seem great and students really seem to love them. worth the move to porter ranch!

Our son's Kindergarten teacher is Ashley Ashcraft. She is a phenomenal educator who teaches the three R's, socialization, as well as discipline. She handles each child individually to his/her maturity level, and our only hope is that she teaches 1st grade next year so that our son can benefit from the most fundamental learning of his life. I am very impressed with how much our son has achieved in 4 months of her tutelage and mentorship.

This school offers an excellent academic program. The students have accesss to music, art, sports and other extracuricular acitivities. Parent council is very active in this school.

This is the best school. My daughters went to a private school before and they are learning the same programs. The teachers are wonderful and caring. We moved into the Castlebay district just so are daughters could attend this school.

Castlebay is an average school with great test scores. The scores reflect bubble test scores. The affluent community is a plus & minus. A few parents are very involved and try with best effort to make the Parent Association strong. The Art, Music & Computer classes are funded by parent donation. Apparently some feel they need not participate but their children do participate in the enrichment classes. Traffic is a problem-some are reckless drivers. Teachers are good, knowledgeable, & experienced but lack the freedom to perform at their best due to restrictions which include getting the best test scores possible. Overall barely acceptable, but has potential.

A great school with alot of parent involvement. Maybe a little too much focus on test scores and not enough on cognitive development and the arts. Good extra-curricular options for after school. Over all, a fantastic public school.

Great testing scores, but lacks a sense of community. Big gap between Asian population and white population that does not seem to narrow, but instead only gets bigger every year. Not enough art, music and no p.e. which makes every child complete. This school believes that test scores alone will keep this school alive. If this school is so great, why does it not have a blue ribbon as a distinguished school?

My nephew attends first grade at Castlebay. He likes going to school and finds it challenging. He scored well on his CAT 6 scores. I wish the school had a gate program for second grade.
