This school is amazing and many of the teachers are very dedicated to the students. The PTA does so much to help raise money and fund as many things as they can. But it does have a problem with taking care of bullies, they don't really do much to stop it or help deter it.
I LOVE THIS SCHOOL AND ITS STAFF AND THE WAY MY DAUGHTERS TEACHER IS SO HELPFUL.
So far I am very impressed with this school. My children entered the magnet program in Sept. after going to a public charter school, and the education is definitely at a higher level. Their two teachers are both highly competent and caring. Other strong points are the orchestra, the library, the free after school programs, and the PTA. My kids are making friends and are enjoying the school's spirit. They also get magnet points for middle school.
Lorne St is one of the better schools in the LAUSD. Their PTA works very hard to maintain as much activities for the kids as possible with the limited resources they have. Yes, they send out flyers for almost everything, but it's expected since LAUSD removed funding for almost every extracurricular activity. My youngest had Mrs. Sachs and my eldest had Mrs. Matsuno. I have to say last year was one of the best school year yet. Mrs. Sachs is very calm and soft spoken; she manages her kids very well. Her demeanor is reflected by how calm/manageable her students are. Mrs. Matsuno is enthusiastic in her teaching that helps her kids stay focus while learning. She will go out on the yard and participate in activities with her kids. I think she has more energy than some of her students. Both teachers are awesome. They identify the strength and weaknesses of their students and will spend time 1 on 1 to help each child grow. This school is a complete opposite of the last LAUSD School my children attended. I m giving them 4 STARS because their magnet program is only from 3-5th grade. It would be nice if it started from 1st. Parents involvement will determine how successful a child can be.
I love Lorne St. Elementary School because of the wonderful staff that I have worked with for 10 years!!
This school definitely has its strong points, but there are some weak links in the chain. My oldest son attended Lorne from 1st-5th grade. He spent 3 of those 5 years with teachers who really shouldn't be teaching: one retired, one is almost retired and the third is far from retirement (unfortunately). The staff and administration were great, but there is new people there now who I don't know very well. There are better schools in LAUSD and certainly outside of the district as well. However, the best part of Lorne is the PTA. They work tirelessly for the kids to have the things they need during this challenging economic time.
I'm so happy with this school. It has great teachers; who care for the students learning. My daughter now is in 5th grade and is very please to have Mr. Carver as a teacher who is one of the best teacher at Lorne Elementary Magnet.
this school is an EXCELLENT school. I go to this school and i love it! I came to this school when i was 8, i am now 10 and in 5th grade and loving ever moment of it! :)
Great Teachers, caring, educated, nuturing & present for each child. Wonderful PTA support, with a new Principal that encourages new ideas & endorses all teachers.
good neighborhood school. Offers children a good sound base of education.
