We have two students at Nobel and we love Nobel. One is gifted the other is not and both of their educations are tailored to meet their own needs. This was not the case at two local private schools. Nobel is large yet maintains a small school feel. No problem communicating with administration and teachers and both are responsive and caring. Most seem to like being there and it shows. The academics are first rate (though they could use new computers). Advanced math, reading, wiriting and litertature (including Shakespeare) are taught as soon as your child is ready. Nobel still values music and drama and both departments exceeded my expecations. I have attended several concerts and musicals and have been amazed at the quality. All with neighborhood kids. This is especially true for the drama department which is amazing. Nobel can't work magic and produce results if your child isn't motivated. If your child works hard they will excell at Nobel if there is a problem Nobel will work with you to correct the problem. Thus, I have to take issue with the post that claimed that Nobel holds back advanced students. That has not been my experience.
my son in 8th it is best of the best the teachers and the principal leadership i am very happy with the school
BEST SCHOOL IN VALLEY! GREAT TEACHERS,I COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE. THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING MIDDLE SCHOOL,sas program is wonderful and strengthens skills, challenges kids.. .
Somehow this school has good reputation, yet in reality it's horrible. More advanced kids are held back even in honors classes. While advertising string orchestra as one of the choices for electives, school failed to mention, that they don't have enough instruments and parents are forced to rent those from some outside store. Not only that, there is not enough books either, so those are to be bought too. Forcing my child to spend over 2 hours a day in a school bus to go to this school was BIG MISTAKE
I LOVE this school! My daughter went to Frost for 3 days and I pulled her out and put her into Nobel and have been very happy since! The teacher are amazing and the SAS program is wonderful!!! There is a sense of community like I remember from when I grew up, I came from private school and this school compares to that of a private school! The student body seems to be good too. You always worry about who will be around your kids, but I have had nothing but good experiences with the friends my daughter has made. Everything about Nobel is positive!!!!!!
This is a fantastic school, you get everything here, like a private school, but without the ridiculous cost.we just love it.
Nobel Middle School has great sas honors programs and i speak as a 4 year sas honors student its the best school in LAUSD and has like 4 blue ribbons we have the highest test scores in los angeles i would definitely recommend my school Alfred B Nobel Middle School to any 6th 7th or 8th graders
It's not hard to forget your experience at this school. A teacher will either like you from the start or is strict then loosens up a bit. And a word of advice to the parents, if your student is having teacher troubles, talk to the teacher. If you show the teacher that someone at home is willing to help they will respect that. I speak as a student
Proof of what email below states on General Math at Nobel CTS Scores. Averaging the past 5 years see the drop in scores: 6th Graders 64% (5-year Average) 7th Graders 55.6% (5-year Average) 8th Graders 38.2% (5-year Average) KIDS ARE NOT LEARNING IN THIS MATH PROGRAM AT NOBEL!!
We just transfered for the first time from private school to Nobel. We have found that the teachers in the SAS program are fantastic, challenging and are there to teach. The teachers actually read and grade the students work themselves and even write comments and give tips on how to improve writing, this is something I never ever saw at our other school. Projects and hw is manageable for my child. She seems happy and eager to learn and attend school.
