I think this school needs to review on how they communicate to the parents when it comes to children eating as well as benifits to the children. The good news I see the teachers really trying to communicate with the kids.

Chavez Elementary is a wonderful place for students. My daughter attended the Junior Kindergarten program and is now in Kindergarten. There are many wonderful programs, such as, GATE, guitar lessons, leveled reading program, and a SMART board in every class. The school is run by a wonderful principal and very qualified teachers. I am happy to have my child at this school.

my eldest daughter is a 3rd grader at chavez & Spelling Bee Champion 2 years in a row. She has always been a timid child, and chavez brought out the champion in her. they are now starting new extra curricular activities, such as the Girl Scouts!!!. The Principal Mr. rayburn is a God Send.

My son has been a student of Chavez school since Kindergarten. He is now about to leave 5th grade, and I am sad to see him go! It's been a wonderful experience. Let's just hope that the success will carry on thru Nettie Waite and beyond!

I wrote the review of Sept. 2003 when my 3 Grandsons attended chavez. Now it is 2006 & 2 of my Grandsons attend middle school & they are doing great. Thank you Chavez teachers for giving them the tools to accomplish this. Your test scores are great. Caesar Chavez has the greatest teachers in the district & they she be proud of themselves.

I must acknowledge that with the addition of the Mr. Miramontes Chaves took a turn for the best. My 6 year old son in enrolled at Chavez and so far his K-teacher was great and his 1st grade teacher is the best. I see how much she enjoys teaching the proof is that my son looks forward to school everyday and he loves to learn. School Spirit seems to be very high these days. With the combined efforts of Student, Teacher, Administration, and Parents there is no telling how much more our Chavez Cheetahs can improve. Go Cheetahs!

My daughter has been going to this school for almost 2 years now. We were concerned when she first started there, mid-way through K, because the school had low ratings. But I think they must be doing something right. The principle, Mr Miramontes, really knows everyone and has his finger in everything going on at the school. The teachers are great and I'm happy that there are only 20 kids in her class. My BIGGEST complaint, and it's HUGE, is that there is no music program. Also, I wish that children were taught a 2nd language. With so many Spanish speaking children, it would be EASY to teach them at this age! But.. this is system wide, not just this school. Other than that... I love Chavez!

My child has gone to this school since kindergarden,, she is now in 1st grade.. my main comment is that the teachers there have really helped her with everything from dramatically improving her reading skills to spelling and math,, they seem to be very involved with the children there,, which I found to be a great relief being that we had to relocate out here from across the country.

My three grandsons have been attending this school for 1 year. I am surprised that the testing scores are so low because the teachers are the best that any school could want. They are excellent.
