Over the years, I have seen DD Johnston improve. The teachers really care for their students. They try hard to help them improve. I also like that over the years they've added many special events and activities for the students. My children are happy and content attending DD Johnston!

I have been considering removing my child from this school for almost the entire school year now. Come September he will no longer be there. My son is a 3rd grader and has done well, his teacher does a great job keeping me informed of his progress and even makes an extra effort to personally call me and keep us informed of behavior/school work. The main issue i have is with the office/administration. On more than one occasion after school activities were canceled and parents weren't informed, office staffer sent my child to look for a teacher & ask if there program was still on for the day. I didn t receive a call for over 45 mins. to let me know I needed to be picked up. I was then told the office didnt know what was going on with the after school program & it was my 9yr old responsibility to inform my husband and I about it being canceled for the day. Trying to get in contact with the principal is just as bad, I stopped trying. This use to be a great place for our children, I'm disappointed and I believe we should be a lot tougher on our schools for our children s future.

I'm not happy with the great school rating. My child is an excellent student and in the fourth grade but I am seriously considering changing to a new school with a better rating next year. I understand it's not only the school's responisbility to make our school better, it is also the parents, etc. but it doesn't help that none of the PTA members speak English and I have to listen to assemblies/performances in two languages. Maybe getting everybody to learn English would be one great big start to improvement.

My son is a 3rd grader at Johnston. He is excelling socially and academically. They are doing a wonderful job and I am very happy with his education. My only complaint is that with all the school budget cuts, we stand to lose many of our excellent educators. That is a real shame and I can only see it hurting our students.

My daughter has been attending DD.Johhnston Elementry since First 5 till now 3rd grade. I feel it's a great school and it would be much better if there was more activity as Drama, Art, Sports, performance to encourage kids to be confident . I know parents would support anything to keep there kids in the right track .

This school has a great principal but the office staff needs to leave. My child is afraid of the staff here and because of that we had to move.

Trying to contact teachers is nearly impossible for the working parent other than being allowed to leave messages in the office there is not direct contact with the teachers until conferences are scheduled.
