St. John of God Elementary School

St. John of God School is great. I have been there since pre-k. Seven years, and I still love it. There are so many activities I can't just choose one! There is choir, Drama, math and science, altar serving for the church, student family day student council, music,dribblers, bumpers, teacher led tutoring, sports (boys and girls volleyball, basketball, and boys football, and girls softbal. There is a super library. There is not a better school for me or maybe you.

My eldest son who is a sophomore now at St. John Bosco, went to this school and my daughter is currently enrolled and graduating this year. We just love St. John of God School not only for the great academic standard but the discipline and the faith filled curriculum that they offer. They have extra-curricular activities that develop confidence and sportsmanship like decathlon, sports (basketball, volleyball, girl's softball), drama club, choir, peer tutoring. My son was able to get a 9th place medal for Current Events out of 98 Catholic Schools that competed. My son and I were teary eyes when this happened. Thanks to their excellent coaches and teachers and parents who have volunteered their time in helping the decathlon team. My kids have been well rounded in their endeavors:academics, talent shows, drama club, choir, sports, student council and community serving as altar servers.The school families and parents are great. Parents are wonderful with their fundraising and volunteer involvement. Teachers are great, they don't stop studying themselves.They continue going for their Masters degree to give more to their students and school. Awesome principal, you see her everywhere!

I would like to thank St. john of God school teachers and staff for everything they do to make this school a success. My two children have graduated from SJOG school and have moved on to high school. They are doing very good in all their subjects. Thankful for the education they received at St. John of God School. One more student on the way to Pre-K this coming year.

SJOG is a very good school. We have three children that attend or have attended. Our eldest has gone on to Ramona Convent High and our son was admitted to Loyola High. The teachers are very responsive and the extracuricular activities are very good. The school has an above average sports program and an awesome drama program. The SJOG Student Council is well run. Father D is also agreat Pastor who takes time to listen and help. I'm glad our children will always be part of the SJOG Family!

I have been going to this school for 10 years. Throughout my years at St. John of God, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have created close bonds with both the students and the staff. It is more like a family than a school and I am proud to be a St. John of God Charger.

St. John of God is a great school. I attended back in the 70's (grades 1-8 then) and it was a model Catholic school then, I still think it is a model Catholic school now. This is not to say it is perfect. I think every school has its problems, it is how you deal with them that counts. My son had a problem with a teacher in 3rd grade, but with numerous conferences and the fact that the teacher realized I was very involved with my children's education, everything was resolved. I have 4 children attending this school year (2003-2004) and cannot be more pleased. The principal is excellent. She may seem stern to some, but she is gentle and kindly when it counts. We have never had any problems with her and my children love her. She may not have had any biological children (she is a nun) but she has over 300 children, and she treats them like they are her own.
