I used to think this school was a good school. But the last two years nothing but issues they allow bullies to get away with bullying and also allow teachers to scream and yell at your child and tell them to Shut Up!! Uncalled for and there should be some type of consequence. I'm at wits end at this point!

I'm a senior at Novato High School and I have loved every bit of my four years here. I'm in the Marin School of the Arts program and it's amazing. The Arts flourish here and it makes the school more open and accepting of everyone. The Marin School of the Arts within Novato High School is a magnet school and attracts many out district students. This students usually bring more diversity and higher scores. Novato High School teachers are marvelous and I have been constantly challenged by my classes and my peers to learn and grow. Novato High School is also growing in size and programs and constantly improving. This is a first rate school that only lacks in funding and I have made friends here that will be with me till the end.

Two of my children attended Novato High. I have found that the staff has been consistant and totally dedicated to our children. I am so happy with how they teach our children and the staffs endless support towards parents and students.

We have the amazing Marin School of the Arts that has nurtured and produced outstanding performers and artists in many fields. Nearly all have gone on to great universities with scholarships and awards. Mark Peabody, the head of MSA, is a very talented and insightful man who has inspired students and parents alike. The principal, Rey Mayoral, is a strong supporter of all the activities that contribute to strong successful adults. 87% of this year's graduating class went on to college.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
