Teachers won't talk to you except via computer. Very easy to pass. Not much learning for me. : (
Minarets is a great school. After attending en elementary school that felt like torture I felt like I was in a dream when I came to minarets. The atmosphere here is so good, and the people here as well. As a student my highschool life is so enjoyable I actually enjoy coming to school. Have you ever heard a person say that they WANTED to go to school? Well the point is, minarets is all and more than anyone can hope for in a high school. It is a place where everyone comes together and spends their very vital four years before we are out in the real world
Minarets High School is a great school. All the teachers and staff are supportive and willing to help, and most of the students are nicer than students at other schools. Plus with all the technology it is preparing students for the 21st century and the future.
I can not say enough good things about Minarets. My oldest daughter started there as a Sophmore after a Freshman year at another area high school that was filled with disappointment in the staff, academics and class offerings. Minarets was the complete opposite with a staff of teachers who not only know their subject matter, but care about each individual student. You won't find any burnt out, tired of teaching, just waiting to retire teachers at this school! Everyone of them is motivated to help the kids learn and is always available to assist the kids even out side of class time. It's not uncommon for my daughter to send an e-mail to her math teacher at 9:00pm when doing homework and get a response within a few minutes! The school offers more then schools that have been established far longer and while other schools are cutting back on what the students get from their education due to budget cuts, Minarets is adding more! Each student receives a laptop to use for the school year (yes, they take it home with them), there are a wide array of electives from Media (Film) to Ag Mechanics and the education is top notch. We couldn't be happier that our children attend MHS!
Minarets is a different school from the others, first off theres the Macbooks that the school loans out for the year, the principle use of books have been almost eliminated "except for reading books", the teachers are open, friendly and they even provide their cell phone numbers, and every student is given a email that they can use to communicate with other and staff. I believe that the 21st century is a new era of education for The United States.
Minarets High School is a phenomenal school. I have succeeded in so many ways that I didn't think was possible. I have better grades than I have ever had at a normal school. I love how the teachers and students respect you at Minarets High School. I also enjoy the feel of the school, it feels like a home and honestly if I could I would live their. I am glad I chose to go to Minarets because I am pursing my dream, I love photography and right now I am a photography assistant and later on in life I want to open my own photography business.... And before I went to Minarets I didn't know what I wanted to do. If you are even thinking or considering about letting your kids go to Minarets... You already know that the answer in your mind should be YESSSSSSS .........
If I had to sum up Minarets High School into one word, it would have to be... creative. I love going here, because I feel safe and I get along with everybody. I am excited to be returning this year as a sophomore with bigger and better ideas. I love the teachers, who are more like friends, and I have shared some great memories here.
Wow what a fantastic school! I am so happy I am here! The teachers are amazing! They are more like friends, they want to help you be amazing and not fail! They care about you more than any other teacher(s) I have had! Our principle is amazing! He is so dedicated to our school and the people in it! He will sit down with you listen to what you have to say even if he has other things to do! He wants to make sure you are in a place where you feel comfortable and if you aren't he will do everything in his power to make you feel comfortable! The curriculum we are learning isn't the same things my parents learned in high school! We are learning more current techniques like how to navigate on a computer and complete a project like we will be doing in collage! I am so glad I am at this school! If I where at any other school I most likely would not be having as much fun while learning! I am so proud to go to this school! Its one of a kind!
I enjoy bragging to my friends and family about Minarets. Most people look at me as though I am telling them a fictional story. It's hard to believe how great this school is. Principal Niehoff is a top notch princial who is in touch with the students. He knows each student's name and their parents. It is easy to get in touch with teachers and express concerns. Teachers are always available for a one on one meeting. The school has a unique way of recoginzing students with their talents. We have an annual awards ceremony, called MMA's (Music Media and Arts) It's Minaret's form of "The Acadomy Awards". Students dress semi formal and when each winner is announced they walk on stage and receive a plaque and are given the opportunity to give a Thank You Speech. Nearly every student is recognized for something special they have done or created. Looking forward to another successful school year. Go Mustangs!!
Minarets changed my life. I went to a different school for two years and switched my Junior year and I honestly have to say that it was the best decision of my life. MHS has teachers who care and will push you to be your best. I had a teacher look up my grades and saw I was slipping in a class that wasn't even his and told me that he would help me do whatever I needed to raise it. The students are amazing and welcoming, they don't exclude people like so many other schools have problems with. I have real friends that I know I can trust now and teachers who will work with me when i'm struggling. There are not enough words to describe how much I love going to Minarets. How often does a parent hear "I love going to school"? Probably never i'm sure. But my mom has heard it countless times this year. If someone is struggling and wants a place to fit in and be able to express themselves MHS is the place. We do get computers but we really use them and take advantage of the opportunities having one gives us. We don't do the same old essay after essay, if we have an idea to get credit in a class even if it's from doing a video to singing a song we are allowed and encouraged to do it.
Before attending Minarets our children hated school and had low GPA's. Now all three have GPA's above 3.5. They can't wait for summer's end and school to begin.
Minarets has been a fabulous experience for my daughter. She repeated her junior year, enabling her to attend Minarets as there was no Senior class. Her grades improved. What has really impressed me is my daughters overall attitude. She has more self confidience then she has ever possessed. She has an "I can do it" attitude, not only on her school work, but, in her personal life as well. She is looking towards her future with great anticipation. If I could sum it up with one situation- the day the gym got flooded my daughter came home in tears, someone had damaged HER school. She cares that much. A passion beyond her own realm. It shows that Minarets is not just a school, but a home for its students. The Teachers and Administration are the most awesome, well connected set of personnel I have heard of ior seen in my 18 years of parenting. WAY TO GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!
Going into my third year of being not just a Minarets student, but also a Minarets enthusiast, I can honestly say I couldn't be more thrilled. The most common thing that is discussed between friends during times spent away from MHS, is going back. A sort of "Silver lining." Minarets High school is more than a place for learning, it's a home. We come together as a team, and a family. The students and staff are all treated as equals helping each other when in pinch, laughing until we all cry, and always having a shoulder to cry on. Academically, I feel right where I belong. If I don't understand something, that is always temporary. We push the envelope everyday through our graphic design, writing, speaking, and endurance to take in more. If we think we have gone to big with something, the staff will remind us that "Going big" has no limits. Our math department is phenomenal. Before MHS, math and I were sworn enemies. But now, I feel as though I have no greater strong point. The last thing that leaves me feeling so blessed to be a part of all this, is the fact that I know "We weren't born to follow."
We have had our son going to this school for the last 2 years and have been very pleased with the school and staff. Mr. Niehoff has been such a great person and really shows that he cares about his students and their parents. He has gone above and beyond and we really have appreciated this. Having the opportunity to email the teacher for any given question or concern has been great. Being able to check your childs grades online, also checking the lunch balance and actually seeing what your kid is eating (ha ha) has been really helpful. All the teachers and office staff have been so caring...We love this school! Can't wait to see my soon to be Grand baby coming to this school someday!
We heavily debated where in the local mountain area we wanted our Freshman to attend. We ultimately selected Minarets, and I couldn't be happier with my child's school experience, thus far. Minarets high has been developed with a distinct vision: Kids are provided a quality learning experience in career-oriented, technical education that is relevant in today's economy. Moreover, the faculty of MInarets clearly understands the important nature of building relationships and their ability to impact the engagement level of teenagers. There is minimal risk of kids dropping out of MInarets because they know that they are valued and that they are connected to something bigger. Principal Niehoff and his staff, both certificated and classified, are exactly what you want in mentors for your child. They are intelligent, capable, and perhaps most importantly, they are simply kind to kids. Those type of personality traits can't be mandated by either union leaders or administrators. heya re just the way things are at this excellent school. Stay the course, Mustangs!
Minarets is an outstanding school! The Principal is engaging with the students and the overall atmosphere makes everyone feel welcomed, wanted, and most important, worthy! I wouldn't want my son to go anywhere else! The teachers are outstanding and make the kids work for their grades. There is NO half-stepping on this campus! I hope my other children will have the opportunity to attend this fine school!
We have a son who started as a Freshman (in the original pilot class) and will be a Senior in the fall. The staff at Minarets is top notch, encouraging our son to excel and making themselves available almost 24/7 (via e-mail, text, cell phone and online) if he has needed any help. The staff continually encourage the students to think outside the box of traditional "schooling", yet still instruct them to state standards. The principal is very proactive leads by example of how to relate to the kids. He and the entire staff have a unique way of connecting and relating to the kids. He also has shown great leadership when dealing with inevitable school issues, disciplining when needed in an appropriate way. We couldn't hope for more from a school for our children, and are so fortunate to be in a district with a school board that has chosen to focus so much on the kids and THEIR well-being, instead of our child being just another body to be shoved through the system. Finally, we have another son starting as a Freshman this year at Minarets - he wouldn't be if we didn't fully believe in this school and staff!
AWESOME SCHOOL! Absolutely love this school teachers and staff are wonderful. The Principle at this school goes above and beyond his expectations in making sure this school is a success and that the students are happy. Way to go Minerets!
Minarets High School is amazing. The teachers are very knowledgeable in their subject matter and work hard to make the lessons exciting to the students. Teachers are available by e-mail, text, and cell phone. They seek to promote individual excellence for their students. The principal is very involved with the students and has made himself easily accessible to parents. The school curriculum does an fantastic job of preparing the students for real life. They are not expected to sit in desks and listen then regurgitate. Instead they are expected to think critically and prepare presentations which showcase the lessons learned. The extra curricular activities are supported by parents and community and allow all children the opportunity to compete or perform regardless of their skill level. The school board is extremely forward thinking and highly supportive of the students they serve. I would recommend this school hands down!
I believe this school has found the way to meet our children where they our and help to take them where they dream of being in the future. The teachers and the principal leadership skills are outstanding. As a parent who is very involve in the life of my children i would recomend this great school to anyone.
